i only have two text exchanges with my boyfriend’s brother-in-law, both which were surprising, and it was him saying “thinking of you in chicago” with a pic of a building that had nameplay off my name and then yesterday for my birthday he sent me a voice note of him singing happy birthday and then sayin some nice things at the end. both were very sweet and flattering but also we only talk at family functions and there’s a lot of familiarness in those but also my boyfriend did not act like these things were weird at all so he’s really just one of those guys who interacts that intimately

how does one go about becoming a comics person? cause i love all the animated dc shit but the comics themselves seem like such a big, tangled, impenetrable thing that i don't even know where to start. like how am i supposed to catch up to a hundred years of a bazillion different comic lines and be knowledgeable about what's going on like comic fans seem to be? it would take me forever just to read all the batman that's out there :')

i will say there is no use trying to catch up with anything from marvel or dc and it is why when i initially got into comics i went the indie route since it was way more approachable. i think best thing to do is find out what you like by getting recommendations or seeking out what people consider the essentials or finding easy entry points like reboots and one-shot stories/ graphic novels then go from there

most comic fans do not know what’s going on unless they are very intense and even then a lot feel like they are pretending to know what’s going on
