It is important to reward a submissive in order to encourage positive behavioral traits and reinforce learning. By rewarding a submissive a Dominant is showing that they are pleased that the submissive has completed a specific behavior or action. The reward the submissive is given shows them that they have done something right, and more importantly is something that is earned by them. This is vital as it gives the submissive a feeling of satisfaction and gratification not only for accomplishing what they needed to in order to earn the reward but also for pleasing their Dominant. It also presents the submissive with something they enjoy, giving them positive feelings to correlate with the behavior or action that the reward is for. This thus shows acknowledgement by the Dominant of what the submissive has done, and enforces it with positive feelings to promote the behavior to continue.

Examples of rewards I have given include the following:

Cuddling and allowing them to touch me. I'm very strict about being touched without permission, it's a privilege that needs to be earned with me.

Being allowed to sleep in my bed, otherwise I'll have them sleep on the couch or the floor given how well they do.

Allowing the submissive to orgasm or give them extra orgasms during a period or orgasm denial or control.

Allowing them to play video games or watch movies with me at the end of the day.

Going for a run together or working out for the fitness enthusiast.

Giving the submissive food they enjoy, such as strawberries.

This rarely happens, though once I allowed the submissive to pick their own reward.

Punishing a submissive is just as important as rewarding them. The first reason for this being that it aptly discourages bad behavior by providing something negative that the submissive will not enjoy. It also shows consistency and firmness on the Dominant’s part, as they are able to identify when a submissive has presented with bad behavior and follow through with appropriate correction. Lack of consistency and punishment, otherwise, being too “soft” can confuse a submissive and in turn result in them acting out in order to gain attention and force a firmer hand. In this case, it is necessary to act accordingly and punish the submissive as necessary so that they understand in no uncertain terms where they went wrong and why the behavior is unacceptable. In this way, like a reward, the punishment also serves as a learning tool by associating bad behaviors with negative feelings, thus discouraging the submissive from performing those behaviors again.

Examples of punishments I have given include the following:

Impact by spanking or paddling for a variety for reasons, most often for moving when instructed not to.

Application of a zipper line made of clothespins connected by a line and weighted by a book that the submissive needed to hold up with their nose. Done for a switch-wide punishment.

Cut with knife during an exam as a punishment for moving when instructed not to.

Kneeling against a wall without making any noise or movement, done as a maintenance punishment.

Overstimulation in public via vibrating anal plug as punishment for touching me without permission.

Rewarding your submissive is extremely important because it is key in helping your submissive grow. Without becoming aware of the fact that what they are doing is proper, it would be difficult for them to be able to tell the difference between right and wrong. Rewarding and punishing is the key of communication in the relationship between a dominant and a submissive, and communication is a huge aspect in that relationship as well.

It is also very important for a submissive to be aware that their behavior is good behavior for it encourages confidence in themselves and in what they're doing. Without being praised or rewarded, the submissive may begin to pull away and withdraw from their dominant which is the exact opposite of what you want to have happen.

Being allowed a touch.

Rewarded with pleasure.

Rewarded an orgasm.

Having the opportunity to be in control.

Just as rewarding helps a submissive grow, so does punishing. A punishment can help a submissive understand their dominant better as they become aware of what it is their dominant does not like, and will help them move on from their mistake. A submissive needs to have a clear understanding of what it is their dominant likes and dislikes, and if there is a continuous display of things the dominant does not like without disciplinary action, it will leave the submissive misguided and unsure of what is right and wrong.

In contrast to that, without punishment being given the submissive could begin to gain a sense of power; they need to understand that there are boundaries which they must not overstep.

Orgasm denial.

Taking away their ability to move and touch.

Being denied a kiss/affection.

Not allowed relief.

A huge part of being a good dominant is encouraging good behavior in your submissive(s), so that they both reflect well on you and for the pleasure it will bring them. If you do not reward your submissive, they will be less inclined to try hard in the future, as they don't see concrete examples of the positive results it brings. It will also bring tension into your relationship as your submissive might feel that they were not appreciated. Rewards should be firmly linked to the good behavior it's compensating, so that the submissive can clearly see the connection between the two. I've given rewards like: an orgasm, the ability to share my bed, a day out in town, or a piece of chocolate. 2. Just as submissives must learn that good behavior brings pleasant consequences, they also have to see that bad behavior brings them punishment. Punishment sends a clear message to the submissive that they have boundaries, and that those boundaries must be respected. Punishment makes it less likely that a submissive will commit the same offense again. Like miscellaneous orders, punishments can keep a submissive grounded. They can also help them move on after they've made a mistake. I've given punishments like: hitting with a crop or paddle, been used as a piece of furniture like a stool, refusing permission to go to an event or to hangout with friends and taking away of material objects like an iPod.

Getting a reward is very important to me. I can be very insecure about my submitting ability and then a reward is very important to me. If I don't get a reward, I'd lose my want to try my best submitting really well for a dominant or switch. Without rewards I feel like there might be a lot of negativity during a scene and that can make the scene really bad and it can then become even unhealthy or hurting. When I get a reward I immediately cheer up and it gives me energy to try even better for the dominant or switch. For me it really is important.

Rewards I received:

- Getting to snuggle and watch a movie.

- Orgasm.

- Getting to bake cupcakes.

- Kisses.

Even though reward is very important to me, I know that punishment is just as important. No submissive is perfect and it's necessary for me to know if I'm doing something wrong. Knowing your bad points and good points is very useful. If you know, then you can improve. It's a way to learn how to be a better submissive. That way your grades will get higher and in the end you'll be in a better shape for the dominant or switch that will claim you.

- Getting spanked.

Private: Reward & Punishment Assignment 1: Part 1

1. Tell me in no less than 5 sentences the importance of reward to you, and give me at least 4 examples of rewards that you have been given.

The importance of reward lies within my Dominant’s positive attention. Rewards come from communicating my likes, dislikes, and opinions to my Dominant and to earn a reward that is specifically formed to what I have communicated tells me that my Dominant was listening when I was talking. In turn, when I feel as if they are listening it fosters the trust I have within my Dominant. I feel safer and want to give them my trust and submission simply because I know that my Dominant has paid attention when they very well may not have needed to. 

As far as a more general sense of reward (for example with someone I may not have known for very long as is the case with exams) I feel the importance of reward could also be a closure to a scene. Stability and structure within a scene make it much safer environment and structure to me means having a beginning, a middle, and an end. A reward, if it has been earned, is a solid ending to scene and I believe a clear indication of a scene’s start and end is important to my headspace when dealing with one time scenes such as exams. To me, it may mean the difference between a pleasurable after glow or sub drop. 

Rewards I have received:

Permission to have a pet.

Permission to take classes normally reserved for higher roses.

Permission to leave campus and visit my parents with a Dominant escort.

Permission to sleep in my cage.

Discipline and punishment, while not enjoyable, is necessary. There are a few main points that make this statement a fact from a personal point of view. It is a basic understanding that when we do something wrong we are disciplined and punished. I believe that discipline is the understanding of what it is that you’re being punished for and how to prevent it in the future. It gives a submissive the chance to correct future behavior. Punishment is the physical and or mental tribulation which is an atonement for the offense. 

It is also a basic understanding that it is a submissive’s job to make their Dominant happy. Discipline and punishment are the first steps toward reconciling and making your Dominant happy again. I also believe that discipline and punishment benefit a submissive in that they can feel as if they are atoning for their mistake. They are working toward forgiveness which is hopefully given at the completion of a punishment and therefore wiped clean from a submissive’s conscious. 

Discipline from a personal view point is necessary each time an offense is perpetuated but even more so important when a submissive does not agree that they have done something wrong. It is important to me as a submissive that I understand what makes my Dominant happy and what does not and why. To receive discipline when I don’t believe I’ve done something wrong is a difficult pill to swallow but it is necessary to understand why I am going to be punished. It also helps to prevent from making the same error again or at least to understand the frame of mind of your Dominant. 

The punishment itself is a release. It’s giving a submissive something to work through in order to earn the forgiveness of their Dominant. Essentially, we are rewarded with forgiveness and the understanding that once we complete a punishment, it is done. I believe it’s important to feel as if we as a Dominant and submissive are working toward a common goal.

Hung on a pole and caned.

Reward and Punishment Assignment

The importance of rewarding your submissive, is to let them know that what they have done is good, most importantly. Without a reward, the submissive will be seeking constant approval from you, and while seeking your approval is important, if you never let them know they have done well, it can make them feel like they do not have a purpose. As a dominant, your role is to protect and guide your submissive, and just like any guide, a reward is just as important as a punishment. Use your position as a way to fix any wrongs that may have happened in their lives, when they felt like they had no validation from parents, peers, etc. No matter what, you are the person in charge of their future, and it is your job to build their self-esteem up.

Rewards given (and ideas): 1: I gave a reward to Cheyenne, as she was the only submissive that greeted me and gave me her name without me having to ask, she is getting a piece of art for this, since she likes art.

2: As a reward, you can take your submissive to their favorite restaurant, if they have done something worthy, such as doing their very best at what they want to achieve in life.

3: Newer clothing is always a great reward.

4: Of course, you cannot forget vacations.

As far as punishments go, these are important because they help guide your submissive, and teach them how to adjust to their rose and understand you furthermore. The punishment should always fit the so-called crime, so for something minor, there should only be a mild consequence to fit it. The reason punishments are given, is to teach your submissive that what they did was wrong, not to abuse the power you have over them. When you punish your submissive, there should be no longer than a five hour gap after it ends where you speak to each other again and see how they feel, and express how you feel as well. Damaging your submissive is never a goal, and that is the most important thing to remember, and that goes for mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Punishment ideas: 1: Take a meal away, never more than one and maybe the minor hunger will teach them not to do it again.

2: Spanking is always a great form of punishment, but sometimes pain is something people enjoy, and is not always the answer.

3: Tell them they can’t do something they love for a period of time and until they understand, don’t let them fully go back to it again.

4: Show them you’re upset by not communicating with them, cutting them off from speaking to you and putting them in some form of time out.

The importance of rewarding a submissive is that it makes the submissive feels good and it gives them self-confidence. If a submissive is doing a good job serving me, I want to reward their good behavior. Bad behavior is punished, so good behavior should be rewarded. Plus if a submissive has self-confident, the bond is stronger for me. I don’t always want to have to micromanage my submissive and them having self-confident helps. I won’t have to constantly reassure them and when I do praise them, it’s a reward. Four rewards I have given are jewelry that emphasizes my favoritism of them, their favorite food, cuddling and escorting them out on the town. 

The importance of punishing a submissive is to teach them wrong from right. This is subjective to each dominant and I think regular punishments has to come within a defined relationship or claim, where there are rules. It’s important for the dominant to know exactly why their submissive is being punished and rules laid those out straight. If the dominant doesn’t know why and they punish anyways, how can they correct the bad behaviors? I am a believer in maintenance punishments because a submissive can get used to not being punished and become lack about their rules.  I have done a good share of punishments. Picking just four is harder for me that most. I have locked someone into a Chastity belt for a week, kept someone awake for a day with various other things done to her body, public humiliation where the switch had to announce his sins before he was unchained and taken to the infirmary after being whipped and rotten fruit threw at his body and last, but not least, locked my cousin in a box for a period with negative things being said about himself to reinforce the negatives about drinking on campus.

Rewards for me as a submissive is sort of like a treat. Being a submissive you pretty much have to be told what to do. If you do what you are told and do it correctly, or above and beyond, you get rewarded. To me it's sort of an confidence booster. I like the idea of someone seeing what I can do to please people and be praised for it. It's seems pretty petty but I like rewards way more. The rewards I've received are mostly from exams, and they are sexual in nature. Basically it was release, being deprived of an orgasm and showing restraint and control. Once they see that they reward me with final release. Which believe me is all the reward I need.

While I hate punishments if I'm going to be honest. There is some importance to them. It's show there is consequence to certain actions. If you are not accounted for the things you have done, you will think you can just get away with everything. And that's not cool at all, it's kinda like life in general. You do something bad, and you get punished for it. I have yet to be punished, but I have seen the rose wide punishments. I personally hate that my brother had to get through with it. But I do see it's purpose. If one suffers, all suffer. That way the main person learns and understands who severe their actions can go.
