I'm involved in making a zine based on "Song of the Wind and Trees" (KazeKi), and so I decided to do a little face painting of my favorite guys from there - Arion and Jules - to get used to them
And in the time I've been sketching Arion's portrait, I've had reason to hate his curls (they're so damn hard to manage) :DD
It was hard to draw Jules' face, it only came out on the second try
/I really like the canon style of the manga and would try to draw in it, but my brain blocks it in every way it can, and I know I'll end up with something that's definitely my own, since I'm just not in the mood for repeating someone else's style :/
I’ve had my thoughts on Rosemarine stashed away in my notes app for a while but I’m going to post them now because I think he’s really interesting!!
He’s seen as the superintendent of the school, so HE gets the final say in everything, when in reality, he’s basically used as a puppet for Auguste
In volume 11 it reveals that Auguste S/A’d Rosemarine when he was 15 as a way of “punishing” Rose for trying to manipulate him, when in reality all Rosemarine did was question Auguste on how to become superintendent and when Auguste refused to tell Rose, he decided to find out by himself since Auguste was no help.
This entire event was also used as a way to control Rosemarine, he could have the title of superintendent, but AUGUSTE would be the one pulling the strings, telling him what to do, how to act, etc etc and if Rosemarine disobeyed, Auguste wouldn’t hesitate to do what he had done before again
THIS is why Rosemarine never steps in when Gilbert is being mistreated, because Auguste told him not to
Even if he WANTED to step in, he was too afraid to do so out of his deep-rooted fear of Auguste and what he’s capable of.
BUT!!! When Serge disobeys Auguste it shocks him because he’s NEVER been able to find any amount of courage to stand up and flat out disobey Auguste’s orders
THIS is when Rosemarine begins to become his own person again and why he plays a pivotal role in Serge and Gilbert’s escape.
After Serge’s throwdown with Auguste, something happens (i forgor the specifics) but Auguste claims that Rosemarine is too weak to continue as superintendent and relieves him from the position in secret, giving Jules the title instead. This is the nail in the coffin for Rosemarine, he discovers the escape plan and has the decision to tell Auguste and Jules, OR to keep it a secret and he decides to do the latter because he is DONE with Auguste’s SHIT
BUT no one knows about Rosemarine’s private firing of superintendent so everyone still believes he holds the title, and on the night of the escape, when he shows up, everyone in on the plan believes the escape is ruined. One group completely ditches thinking theyre gonna be in trouble and over all everyone is like D:
BUT. Rosemarine DOESNT interfere negatively, instead, he gives Serge money for Paris and takes the fall for the pair as Jules watches menacingly from the shadows
He even tells Serge that the success of this escape means everything to him
FINALLY, after all these years of living in fear, he can do SOMETHING to make up for it because he DOES feel guilty for not stepping in, he DOES feel terrible about everything that he let happen because of his own fears but maybe, MAYBE some of that guilt can be quelled if this escape works, because for ONCE he went against Auguste’s wishes and made his own decision, thus killing his role of “the puppet”
*about to run away
Serge: why are you helping us?
Rosemarine: because I like you, Serge
Gilbert:
I just watched Kaze to Ki no Uta and i have some thoughts
1st thing! i (for some reason) went into this with the thought that this was a happy loving lgbtq anime! no idea how i came to that conclusion but i was wrong.
lets start with him. this is serge! he is best boi. he took care of the bitchy gilbert and stood up for him on multiple occasions. he was also completely oblivious in the first 10 minutes of the film! 10/10 character!
this is the bitch™️ gilbert. so hes the other main boy and hes definetely a bitch. the amount of times he gets slapped is amazing. (i was half expecting him to say "harder daddy" every time) serge tries to take care of him throughout the film and hes a whiny brat about it. 6/10 cause hes mean.
next is this bitch. this is bitch! need i say more? -9000/10 cause he fucking sucks.
now i know rosemarine wasnt a main charater in the film but look at his freaky ass! i know this is shoujo anime and therefore it must have big eyed characters but his eyes are so scary. i literally screamed when i first saw him. 4/10 cause hes scary.
all in all, this was a really good anime. it has very heavy themes so i wouldnt recommend it to everyone. its pretty artistic-wise and has a pretty darn good story. the characters were also believable enough and there were some really ridiculous moments that made me laugh. if youre gonna go watch it please be warned! this is not happy at all and (spoiler alert!!) one of the main characters die at the end!! if you are triggered easily dont watch it! but yes, i would recommend it to those who enjoy older, lgbtq, or any good anime in general!
I'm just finishing kaze to ki no uta but, it was never clear to me if between Jules and Rosemarine there was any attraction beyond friendship
Hey anon, while I was reading I knew they were shipped, so i thought there would be a romance between them in the manga.
But that didn’t happen, they have an odd relationship where it seems like they just support each other's company, but deep down they like each other.
There's a cute moment between them, when Jules is in bed and Rosemariné kisses his cheek. But as they get older, those moments don't come around anymore. In The Dove of Happiness, at the end, it felt like they wanted to tell each other how they felt, but nothing happened.
I think Keiko left it to the reader to interpret their relationship, as there are people who see them as a couple and others don't, so apparently nothing is confirmed.
I personally think they have feelings for each other, but they don't want to admit it, because their relationship is already complicated, a romance would make it even more complicated. But this is just my point of view.
But it would be interesting to know what readers here on the blog think. Do you think Jules and Rosemariné have feelings for each other or is this just an interpretation of the readers? Write your opinions here in the comments
Kazeki memes for suffering hearts ~
This is my first Kazeki fanart, it took me two days to do it and I adored painting our lovely Rosemarine. I hope you enjoy it! ^-^
