It’s possible and I thought of that too.  I’m not sure either of those would have a lot of overlap with Hallmark viewers though but it could account for some.  We’ll never know for sure.  In theory, The Christmas House should’ve gotten more viewers because it appealed to a wider audience who normally wouldn’t have tuned in.  It’s not like it got terrible ratings but it’s still a little frustrating when so many of us are celebrating the changes Hallmark is making and are supportive of the new direction only to have the movie get ratings that don’t necessarily reflect that, you know?  Those against LGBTQ representation probably see this as a win.  Proof that people don’t want to see that “filth” on their screen.  I don’t like that.

Probably the most popular site/blog for TV movies posts shit like this:

“You may have noticed that I did not include the Tuesday night Thanksgiving week premiere. As a believer in traditional marriage and Biblical values I will not be promoting "A Christmas Tree Grows in Colorado" since learning it's subplot will include a same sex couple. And this about Christmas with the Darlings “ *NOT FAMILY-FRIENDLY - there is a same sex relationship in this movie.  I will NOT be promoting this film.”

They apparently didn’t even post about The Christmas House because of how awful it was.  So that’s what we’re up against.

I do enjoy Alex/Kelly and I can’t wait to see how they attempt to adapt to all the filming restrictions next season while keeping it cute, lol. Me: also can we make this interracial relationship actually feel like it’s being written with an eye on cultural fault lines that would cause occasional tension??? plz note this is true of every other canon ship as well so like. PLEASE NO MORE GENERIC CRAP.

Brainy and Nia is like a snack on a table at a party where if I can see it i will have some. Do I truly love cheese and crackers? No. But are they freely available to me, easy to consume, and sufficiently enjoyable? Heck yeah.

FUN FACT J’onn/Eliza is something I love to joke about because the idea of J’onn visiting the Danvers while shape-shifted into different people over the better part of a decade and then ghosting them repeatedly will never not be funny, but it is not a pairing I would genuinely lobby for in the show. 😂
