ezgi is the youngest of the özbilen children. she was born and raised in izmir, turkey. her dad is a well-known doctor and the owner of a major hospital, while her mother owns several boutiques and often attends social events to "keep her status."
because their parents were always busy, she and her older sister were mostly raised by nannies and household staff. ezgi often felt more connected to them than her own parents, who were distant and unavailable.

after high school, ezgi was pressured into college. her parents insisted she study something in the medical field to follow in the family’s footsteps, but ezgi longed to pursue art.
her older sister, who had chosen a more conventional path, was always praised by their parents. ezgi constantly felt like she would never be good enough for their parents.
during college, ezgi grew as an artist. she painted on canvases and improved her skills. her art teacher encouraged her to pursue her talent, but when she told her parents she wanted to focus on art, they were furious.
one night, her father destroyed her work. he threw away her supplies and years' worth of paintings, calling it a "waste of time." in response, she created a large spray-painted mural in the city an emotional statement against her parents. the next morning her painting appeared on the news and ended up being a trending topic on social media. everyone was wondering who made the painting that screamed out so many emotions. she was so surprised by everyone’s reaction (good and bad ones) because so many people could relate to her painting. this encouraged her to make an anonymous instagram account because she knew that if anyone would find out it was her behind all the meaningful paintings; her parents would do everything in their power again to make her stop what she loved to so much. besides, she found the idea of an anonymous message to the world more meaningful than people knowing who made it.
ezgi is really afraid of the idea of working in a hospital already; she feels it's too much responsibility and honestly believes she’d never be good at healing or helping someone. that’s exactly why she never wanted to work in a hospital.
college didn’t go smoothly. despite her love for art, her grades dropped again. this time, hacking wasn’t an option, and her parents, frustrated and disappointed, sent her to a school in the netherlands to "get her on track."
living abroad was lonely, but it gave her independence. she eventually graduated after three years, getting her diploma just to make her parents happy.
but instead of returning to turkey, ezgi chose to move to roseton to start over. she arrived five years ago, ready to live life on her own terms and follow her creative passions. she told her parents she got an offer to work at one of the biggest hospitals, just to get them off her back.

Born in Arlington Virigina, Jia was the youngest of three and the first daughter to the Zhangs. She had always been a smiley baby and her mother would call her angel from then on, always saying it was easier with her than her brothers but in reality there wasn't much of a difference between the three siblings, and that never really changed. Joined at the hip, they enjoyed almost a decade as a family of five in Arlington. Things change though, Mr. Zhang got a job offer working at the Mayor's office in Roseton and since her mother was a nurse and could get a job at the local hospital they moved up the coast when Jia was only ten years old.

not a local boy, but his uncle lived in roseton for quite some time. griff grew up visiting from time to time but never quite imagined himself staying. he's a city boy, born and raised for the chaos of nyc and not the 'peaceful' small town vibe roseton offers.
his home life is relatively boring, in truth. the oldest son to all sisters, a mother who worked her ass off to give them anything they wanted and a dad who ended up being a stay at home father when his wife started making a lot. she worked in finance, he worked in school drop off lines. it worked for their family dynamic, and griff looked up to both his parents because of it.
at a young age, though, the boy clearly had some issues with authority. while he was fine with his parents, something just did not click with others. he spent a lot of time resenting why he had to go to school, why he had to sit in this spot. therapists diagnosed him, but he hates to talk about it. either way, it was his dad who realized his son needed an outlet and that's how he started his path to be an mma fighter.

ethan was born and raised in roseton and hasn't really experienced much outside of that. his world is pretty small and he's relatively okay with that. he is mostly around to help his dad at the diner and make small conversation with the older regulars that come in. that's how he began his work as a handyman, fixing things for the seniors that came into the diner who needed help and couldn't get around to it themselves. other than that his social circle is pretty small. he might go out to roseton revenge every great once in a while but other than that he's sort of like the roseton cryptid
personality.
super awkward (same). he'd rather be inside the house building lego sets than forming relationships with other people. and he definitely deals with a lot of anxiety just in general (again, same) so he's not really open to trying new things or experiencing anything outside his comfort zone. he's pretty smart and good at finding solutions for things. despite that he doesn't really utilize it for anything besides his work as a handyman (and the legos). he can come off as judgmental (and don't get me wrong sometimes he is) but he's not trying to be. one of the characters that fits his mbti type is literally squidward and i think that's actually pretty spot on ;-; he cares a lot, truly, but doesn't know how to express it. he really does want to change but also is unwilling to really push himself outside his comfort zone for that to happen.

things changed pretty suddenly right when clarke started her sophomore year of high school. she was suddenly caught in the middle of a very rocky divorce between her parents. in the end, her mom decided to leave town and take clarke with her to north carolina, far from everything and everyone she'd ever known. she never really adjusted to her new life, and lost her spark for a long time.
in an effort to find herself after high school, she started community college in order to become a teacher, something she'd always wanted for her future. she knew she always wanted to return home to roseton one way or the other, but knowing her mom would never want to go back and that her now estranged father had moved away, the prospect of returning without her support system was daunting. not to mention the painful memories that were waiting to be relived there.
fortunately she was able to work up the courage to return and has been back for a few years. she spent the first year working as a teaching assistant until a job opening for a preschool teacher landed in her lap. this would be her second year of teaching full time.

clarke is very crafty and creative and always has at least 5 projects she's working on, and that doesn't count the ones she come up with for school. whether it's an elaborate project for the kids or decorations for her classroom, there's never not a pile of construction paper, glue, glitter-- you name it-- in her vicinity. she's definitely the teacher that is always wearing kitschy earrings and dresses and whatever else she can clip and pin to her person to be colorful and bright. whatever the season, theme, color scheme, she has jewelry or a sweater to match.
she has so much stuff. like i mentioned all of her crafts, her accessories, clothes, trinkets--every drawing her students have ever made for her. not to even mention her closet full of yarn and fabric that is just endless. she's disorganized and every six weeks she'll say she's gonna go through and clean her apartment and get rid of stuff but she most certainly isn't.
