brief history:
mateo grew up in roseton to a really dysfunctional family that lead to his older sister ditching town and never being heard from again. that's basically the catalyst for his 'fuck you' attitude to the world. mateo's learned to take care of things himself after his family blew apart. he's stuck around in their family home in rose lane even after they all left, one by one. he got into being a mechanic because he's good with his hands and he doesn't really have to think about it too hard. it doesn't require too much customer service talk either. car broken. car fixed. easy peasy. he's usually pretty reliable except for the one night he drank a little too much and something happened. luckily, there were no witnesses. it happened two years ago and people still haven't managed to figure out what happened. mateo's taking that secret to the grave.
