Now, on your deviant art I saw that you did Rosetta. How did you make the outfit? Mainly, I'm curious on how to make a bottom like petals. Thanks for the help! Keep up the great work!

I had a post about this somewhere in relation to my Loki capelet thingies but I tend to edge a lot of my costumes like this nowadays because I’m too lazy to do rolled hems and I like the effect this gives.

ANYWAY! So, grab yourself some fishing wire. No more than 30lbs test but for delicate fabrics, I recommend 20. Put a little knot into the fishing line and put it at the start of your hem. Get a zig-zag stitch on your machine, about 1.5 by 5.0 and stitch all the way around your hem, basically trapping the fishing line in your stitches. Then drop your settings to 0.5 by 7.0 and go around again. It will give the wavy “petal” effect you want. If you want to be able to pose the fabric, use a thin wire instead.

I was hoping you could give me some tips on making a Rosetta cosplay from Disney Fairies? I think I've got a good idea of what to do for the top, but I'm a little lost on the skirt.

Sure! For my Rosetta skirt, I used Casa satin and zig-zag stitched around the edges. This causes a natural ripple in the fabric which makes it kind of look like a petal. Examples here. If you want the fabric to flip/curl up at the bottom like hers does, you can roll it around a large tube and starch it, or you can sew a thin wire into your zig-zag stitch which will let you essentially pose the fabric how you want it.

Alternatively, it was like $50 and I can’t find it online, but I saw this MASSIVE fake rose at Hobby Lobby…it was like four and a half feet tall or something. The petals would probably be large enough to make a skirt. I’ve been eying it every time I go shopping there lol.
