The time has come for the Smithsonian’s annual Bachelor and Bachelorette Auction! This year’s auction will benefit many local charities so keep your wallets handy.
We do have a lot of information for this mini-event so please, please read everything carefully.
This event is AU only because it makes sense to have it be AU so that all characters can participate equally. Only the situation is AU, not the characters. Your character’s personality is as you would normally portray them. The Avengers have been invited to participate at the auction which required S.H.I.E.L.D personnel to attend as well. Civilians are all welcome at this event. As for Hydra members, they have been tasked with retrieving a valuable artifact and got roped in to participating in the event.
This event will only last for one weekend, no longer. There is a stricter time limit on this event because it’s only meant as a mini event, rather than a big one. It will begin Friday, September 5th, at 5 p.m. and end Sunday, September 6th, at midnight.
There will be two groups for this event: bachelors/bachelorettes and bidders. At this time, there will be 20 spots for either category. Spots may be added or removed depending on the number of characters in the roleplay. Sign-up will begin Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. EST and a google doc will be linked in the OOC blog to use for signing up. It is a first come, first serve basis so make sure to get your choice in as soon as you can. If we don’t have your choice by Tuesday afternoon at 7 p.m. EST, then we will assign you a place in the event unless you have contacted us about being unavailable for the weekend.
Tuesday evening, we will be posting the final list of the bachelors/bachelorettes and bidders. At this point, the bidders will come into play. All bidders need to submit their bids by Thursday evening at 10 p.m. EST. This is so the admins have plenty of time to match everyone up for the event.
Now for how the bidding works. Bidders can have a maximum of four choices. Please place your bids from top choice to last choice along with the dollar amount your character is willing to bid. The maximum bid allowed for this event is $10,000 so please don’t go over this amount. Another thing to keep in mind is your character’s financial situation. While Tony Stark can afford anything, other characters may not be able to do that.

You can bid on whomever you would like, male or female, with any amount up to $10,000.
We will match characters up according to bids. All characters will be matched up. We will announce the pairs prior to the event so you will have some time to plot with them
The first night of the event will be general interactions. Sometime after midnight, your character will discover who they have won and the pair interactions will begin. This could take place as a para, chatzy, chat, or mixture of all of them. Please do not begin any general interactions after the pairs have been announced IC. The most important part of this event is activity! Please, if you sign up for a slot, make sure you can be active for the event. Don’t leave another rper hanging around for a weekend with nothing to do.
Please tag all interactions, starters, and paras during this event with ‘rosauction’ to make it easier for all of us to find everything.
