okay so, i finally posted the fic ive been working on for like three months so if y’all want to read it maybe, that’d be cool.
it has wayhaught, wynhaught, wavesita/rosewaves, and wynsita.
summary : An alternate universe where Nicole and Wynonna are best friends and actresses, along with Waverly. Waverly is new to the acting business, the ins and outs still not fully clear. It isn't until she lands a lead role in a Canadian television series alongside Wynonna and Nicole that she starts to truly find herself.
What is going to happen when Waverly confides in her sister, sharing her fear of falling in love with her on-screen love interest? What if her on-screen love interest is none other than Rosita Bustillos? What is she supposed to do when Wynonna and Nicole are made to be on-screen lovers and she's unable to watch it?
Lots of fluff, lots of shameless flirting, and maybe some smut eventually? Slow burn Wayhaught canon with some Wynhaught, Wynsita, and Wavesita throughout.

it’s so anxiety-inducing when a character gets what you feel is a PERFECT sendoff for them... except the canon ‘verse is still going on so it could be undone at any second lol.
one of the characters I feel like this about is Caroline, of course (although I’m pretty happy with how Legacies is handling itself in that regard), but the one where I definitely want canon to leave things as they were is Rosita Bustillos.
AFAIC Wynonna Earp sort of... stopped after 2x12 (because I didn’t see it!! so nothing counts!!). I haven’t even felt like checking anything of s3 and barely know one or two things about it, because when it comes to my favourite character (AND OTP), that episode gave me a perfect ending where I can imagine whatever I want for her afterwards (one day I’ll have finish my WIPs about her...).
and I know if she was ever brought back I’d get curious and I don’t trust that show one bit any more. her s2 arc was clearly a FLUKE of good luck for me, otherwise that ‘verse and I do. not. vibe.
so, yeah. leave Rosita be so I can exist in this limbo xDD
Rosita/Waverly, no doubt. But first, I’ll talk a little about why I’m not picking Dolls/Wynonna lol.
I was always so conflicted over them. The ship immediately drew me in (they had just the right vibe! It fit my trope preferences! Wynonna clearly preferred him!), but it’s as if I could see the writing on the wall. How Dolls compromised more and more for Team Earp. How much more development Doc got. What a lackluster Dolls’ s2 plot was, and how little time Wynonna and he had together (and the fact that they didn’t have sex… writers care a lot about that type of thing and I saw it as a huge red flag for how they felt about the ship). The ship got more and more tainted for me.
Meanwhile, Rosita/Waverly remains intact in my brain. Not only did I fell for it even harder, but it managed to carve itself a little space within the show against all odds, and connected on a whole other level. The girl that initially only existed to prop Doc/Wynonna and the sister that was relegated to “safe” storylines over and over (and was also pushed to prop that ship, too). I expected to be crushed with this ship. I don’t call it “my doomed sunshine otp” for nothing. And yet the opposite happened: Rosita became an antagonist. I know, I know. It sounds weird and counterintuitive xD. But to me, that saved her character and my ship.
Rosita got to say “I’m going to sell your baby, Female Lead –a gross, immoral act however you slice it–, because you dared threaten my life and treat it like it’s worthless, and that’s not okay. And a man that claims to care about me is weak for you and would let you, and that’s not okay either.” Such a thing does NOT happen to proppy character, especially if they’re WoC, and queer at that.
But Rosita not only got to say that, but she also survived it. She survived when Waverly tried to shoot her, which –again, weird– was a great moment for the ship. Not just because I love conflict and dysfunction, but because Peacemaker shined blue, and that has a special meaning within the ‘verse; it’s assumed it means the shooter feels sympathy, but I think it has to be more than that (it didn’t shine blue with that nice gay Revenant Wynonna had to shoot and clearly liked), which marked a special connection between them.
But wait, Rosita is gone, right? MIA? That’s the best part! (putting aside the employment related iffiness of the situation, IMO). Because it means she (and the ship) forever live in that moment in my head! Where she got to face the Earps and still escape, where her last scene was gr10 shipping material for me. Nothing that happens after s2 of that show exists, as far as I’m concerned. So Rosewaves is preserved in its perfect state, forever and ever :P
