Roshanara born Olive Craddock c.1918
The daughter of an English mother and Anglo-Indian father of Irish extraction, Craddock learned to dance as a child in India. She came to Europe in about 1909 and adopted the stage name Roshanara after a legendary Indian princess. She danced with Loie Fuller's company and in 1911 appeared in London in Oscar Asche's Kismet and took the role of Zobeide in Scheherazade with the Ballets Russes at Covent Garden. She joined Anna Pavlova's company in 1912 and eventually settled in America, where she died from appendicitis aged thirty-four.
