REGECT AND ZE WHEN I CATCH YOU LITTLE MFS IIM GONNA WRING YOUR NECKS DRRRYYYYY. STOP LEAVING MY GIRL MOE TO FEND FOR HERSELF

Trios never work, someone always gets left out. Ze and Regect are too preoccupied with each other to prioritize Moe, and that’s exactly why she’s the most at risk for being hurt by the Daemon. She’s always being left behind, being told to stay back while the other two go chase each other. When she tries to open up about her fears regarding the Daemon hurting her, there’s always a bigger issue that overshadows her.

In the campisode- Regect runs in after her with the same reaction to something smaller, and Ze assumes that they’re reacting to the same thing. She was brushed over and because of that she shut up and didn’t tell them what was actually going on— that’s why she’s was so quiet and withdrawn for the rest of the episode.

In the most recent episode, when she tells them again about the hallucinations she’s having, she’s pushed aside by Ze’s reckless impulse to jump into action. The issue becomes stopping Ze from doing something stupid instead of comforting and extending that same protection to Moe.

The Daemon is encouraging this dynamic to widen the gap between the three of them- and it’s worked, if the title of the recent Micha video is anything to go by. “And then there were two.” I think refers to Ze and Regect, and showing how Moe has given up trying to ask for their help. The daemon has successfully isolated her, and he didn’t even really need to do much at all.

A Taco Character Analysis and the Problems With IIS4

Originally this was gonna be a submission onto @oscconfessions but I realized I lowkey cooked and wanted to post it on my main. So. Enjoy my yap below!! Remember these are all my personal opinion.

I don’t like how the writers are handling II Taco’s character. I liked her a lot in season 2 because of how backhanded and “evil” she was, how she clearly was incredibly desperate yet overly confident in her ability to win. She was a social outcast and thus didn’t know how to befriend people without having to prove her worth to them and thereby manipulating them.

Season 4 just pretends like she was ALWAYS able to make friends with others normally, and also completely ignores the fact that NO ONE LIKED TACO AT ALL. Yeah, the world ended and everyone died. But that doesn’t mean that people should automatically forgive Taco, or even trust her because she’s “changed person.” SHE HASNT CHANGED YET. THATS WHY SHES IN SEASON 4. Her reputation with the season 1 cast was tarnished all those years ago, Microphone has been open to speaking about how Taco used her, and Taco LITERALLY held a hostage in front of the final four to take over the game in episode 15. So why is everyone acting all buddy-buddy with her when the ONLY times they’ve known her she’s been lying or using other people for her own gain??

Speaking of gain, don’t even get me started on Microphone. I used to like Tacomic a lot because of how the writers handled a toxic relationship with so much nuance. I could see myself in both Taco and Microphone. But they immediately went back on all that toxicity and all the hurt Taco put Mic through by making them attached at the hip in the new season, seemingly for no good reason? Taco took advantage of (and subsequently befriended) Mic because Mic’s only other friend in season 2 (Soap) had been eliminated. But now Soap is here, and Microphone has a support system to rely on. She’s not alone anymore. So why does she actively hang around someone who she KNOWS used her in the past, and hasn’t actually on-screen forgiven??? It doesn’t make sense to me.

I do appreciate the fact that her past “evilness” isn’t going completely unnoticed (I’ve pointed it out before, but making Mic believe that she and Taco are closer than Mic is with Soap, and also little moments like “seat them in the bad table they won’t know the difference in Ep1”) but to me those moments only feel like callbacks or references to the times when Taco consciously tried to sabotage others rather than something Taco struggles with “training out” of her. There’s not much weight to those moments if they’re simply brushed off, or she’s given a slap-on-the-wrist. It doesn’t feel like Taco actually is trying to be a “better person”, because her idea of a “better person” is very unclear writing wise.

I wish the writers had kept Taco an outcast. I wish they had expanded on her strained relationships with the S1 and S2 contestants. I wish they had emphasized how losing the three people she was ever close with has made her paranoid to form close friendships with anyone else if it’s not for her own benefit. I wish they had paired her up with some S3 contestants, who don’t know her backstory, so she can actually start anew without this forced “kumbaya we’re all friends now” writing.

Furthermore on what I think would make S4 Taco more interesting: Pickle. they should have put Pickle in S4. He has legitimately NO character outside of being Taco’s ex-friend because his lack of development, and I think having him in the season would raise the stakes for Taco. It would actually give her a reason to not only become a better person but PROVE she’s a better person. It gives her reason to try and reach out to other people and form new relationships, fast. That in turn could lead to Taco rushing through the motions of building trust, without prioritizing actually building the trust in her relationships. Her arc would be a great commentary on how social skills are learned, not innate, and also would give the characters around her a reason to sympathize and eventually come to respect and trust Taco in return.

Yes, I know we’re only like three or four episodes into the new season, and I’m sure there’s a lot more plot to come. But from what we’ve seen already, Taco’s struggles are being dumbed down, and everyone around her is reacting inconsistently with their previous writing. This is only extra noticeable to me because I Love Taco, but it’s still something I feel passionately about.

GUYS, I NEED YOU ALL TO READ THIS FANFIC PLEASE!!!! S2 Taco time travels into the past to try and change her fate, but she ends up at MePhone4’s co-host for Season 1 and is taken on a wild ride of adventures. It’s genuinely so well written and the characterization is PERFECT!!! This fic definitely needs some more love so PLEASE GO SHOW IT SOME!!
