"Understanding The Gravity Of Every Second"depicts Jon Jaylo's (@jonenigmajaylo) son, @rossjaylo - who is also a painter! - contemplating if he's squeezing the most out of the time that he has. It was inspired by an ongoing dialog that they had about how all of us live on borrowed time. Jon repeatedly stressed how important it is to make the most of the precious moments that we have. "Although my advice may seem somewhat negative," Jon says, "it actually inspired Ross to appreciate life more on a daily basis." For the sixth year in a row, @beinartgallery is unveiling its annual exhibition of small artworks, featuring the art of more than 90 international artists! The opening reception for Small Works 2021 is happening Saturday, May 22nd, 6pm - 9pm, but for now, here's a tasty little sample of what's to come! Ross Jaylo's golden "Astral" doesn't just look cool. He purposefully depicts skulls like this - as well as individuals stripped of their skin (aka "Ecorche") - in an effort to portray souls that transcend all earthly labels. We don't know the color of their skin, what pronoun they identify with, or their political affiliation. None of that really matters, does it?
