The crew had finally been given leave, and Kaen was glad for it. Though he wanted to spend time with his dove, the captain did have some duties to attend to with overseeing the cargo.
So he thought he would spend a few days ashore, exploring the town and making certain that the crew stayed out of too much trouble. A hand ran through his black mane of hair. Dinner first, he decided. A real dinner that wasn't fish or pickled vegetables or eggs. And certainly not rice.
Fresh vegetables. Steamed, he was thinking. And alone without anyone to bother him, especially that other carpenter --
