Even if it was short lived, I adored what Pang Tong and Zhuge Liang had going. Like, fuck yes, let's give the strategist a strategist friend for enrichment.

I'm not done torturing myself with Xuanliang angst yet. In 1994 san guo yan yi, Zhuge Liang maybe had a chance to stop Liu Bei, but then Zhang Fei came in, and it was the moment when it became clear that the place Liu Bei held for his brothers in his heart was one he could never reach at this point.
A similar scene in 2010 san guo is this. While looking at Liangliang. Moment of absolute doom.
As I said before, the 1994 drama didn't show anything between the two after Zhang Fei's passing too, but we had a that moment of 'no going back' here as well.
Little does as much damage to me as the scene of Liu Bei looking down at his wife, unfazed by his words anymore. Just a minister and his ruler, with none the warmth they had before.
Not a main character in ro3k but this is just a too cute cao mao im sorry
The face I made when I found out that Fan Zhiqi, who played elder Jiang Wei in 1994 rot3k, also played Zhuge Liang in another drama...!
this image makes me laugh so much
I like to call 2010 Kongming the one who generally shows more vulnerability, and earlier signs that he would completely neglect his health, while devoting himself to the late emperor's dreams. However, 1994 Kongming also displays *subtle* signs of this trait. I mean he is portrayed as a workaholic, but he certainly managed to cope better during his younger years... unless, we take a look into a few short scenes: during the time when his lord is away in Wu, we see him working late into the night. This leads me to believe that he only ever takes a break when his zhugong warns him (perhaps even coaxing him to come to bed with him hm hmm). Later, after Liu Bei's passing, he ignores everyone's concerned words, neglecting his health entirely. If Liu Bei is not there, Zhuge Liang just simply never takes a break.
Excuse me, he asked for no pickles he doesn't want to hand over Jingzhou
