Last Rotary District Cabinet meeting. Thank you Joe Hamilton for the pin. #rotary5170 #fromDGtoDG #endof2013 #interact
March 22-March 24
This weekend was absolutely the best weekend I could ask for. Being invited to attend Rotary 5170's District Conference and in secret prepare for a little speech about Margarethe for her acceptance of a very well-deserved award was about the most rewarding and appreciative experience I could have. Despite no LTG present to keep me company, I enjoyed the various forums hosted by legendary Rotarians and it may seem boring to some, but I actually enjoyed listening to all the speakers at the conference. They were all so well spoken, full of energy and wit, and they exuded such passion for the Rotary cause. I'm thankful to have been exposed to the Rotary world. I started off high school like any other freshman, scared of what laid beyond the comforts of my own city. I now appreciate the support I have been given from amazing and caring adults. When I first became officer sophomore year, our Interact advisor was Nancy Smith. Now she is Sunnyvale Rotary's president. Michelle Lewis and Lisa Bickford are our current advisors, and let me tell you, they have done a wonderful job. With their guidance the officers have been able to grow as individuals and the bond we share with them is unbreakable. The impact these two ladies and their spouses have had on my life..I'm always going to remember them. From our meetings at google to officer kayak bondings over the summer. As I entered Interact at the district level, I was able to meet even more remarkable people. None have affected me like Margarethe. Working with her this past year has been such an honor and she certainly deserved to receive the Allan McLeod Award for 2013. Together we started as newbies. Rachel, Margarethe, and I. To think that next year is going to be completely different and in just 365 days the 2014-2015 Governor and LTG will probably be decided, I want to enjoy every last moment I have with each of these people. I have not posted anything in a while, but the opportunity to spend three days and two nights at the Napa Valley Resort, free of charge, is not one every student comes by throughout their high school career. Thank you Rotary for allowing me to listen to and learn from flawless and profound speakers like Jennifer Jones, Richard D. King, and Dick Hennings.
