Incidentally while I was naming and saving this picture, I actually came across the first drawing I ever did of Ange, named similarly because that particular song (Supermassive Black Hole by Muse) has been one of the first and foremost inspirations for Ange’s character.
It’s very interesting to see what changed and what didn’t. Unlike some of my other characters who I’ve had for much, much longer, and who are now almost completely unrecognizable from their first incarnation, Ange is pretty distinctly Ange; void-powered, never feet, general air of Knows More Than You, even the staples on either side of her jaw, though they later became rings.
The first incarnation of Ange was a witch, not a goddess, and there was some nebulous plot of her looking for her eye, that she gave up to... someone, for some reason. I never really thought that through much. She also looked a lot younger than she was for... some reason. I think being a Giant Woman (tm) suits her much better, personally, because the biggest shift between here and current canon is that she’s very, very larger-than-life.
This drawing is actually only a year old (from 2015) so I guess it’s also pretty fun to see how far I’ve come both in terms of character design and drawing.
