If you're ever thinking of getting Soulash 2 (pronounced Soul Lash, not Sou Lash or Soul Ash), a rougelike game on steam in the vein of Dwarf Fortress's Adventure Mode, you might want to look into recent reviews. They're weird af:
Lots of reviews with almost no playtime all saying stuff like this. These are also pretty recent too, and there's a lot of them. So what happened? Well, Soulash 2 added a feature that allowed you to marry others. Then this happened:
The response on steam is fine, for the most part, since it seems like marriage was to make children. The addendum on the twitter post, though, is a bit much.
After some time passed and discussions were had, the dev said this:
So yeah, it seems the dev is notably homophobic, and most of the recent sales were from people brigading the steam reviews with positive reviews to tell LGBT people off. I mean, that's one way to make money, I guess. He won't have any credibility as a dev anymore though since he compared LGBT people politely asking for representation to nazis, communism and religious oppression.
As a bonus, he even knows people can only really "type some words" about this, in a way that felt like it's weak, yet he clearly felt attacked as if they were strong. You know, like how hateful people will do the "enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak" act.
And by "hateful people" I mean fascists,
Anyways, had to get this off my chest after reading about this.
Quasimorph is goated; you can chop off someone's arms and legs, using their bones as throwing spears and dismembered limbs as bludgeons.
corpses are an awesome source of both blunt and piercing weapons, food, hearts for bloodbags, and you can use what's left in their intestines as a crafting component for stun grenades in the field.
some missions i just send a melee merc in with only a knife and they'll clean out several floors back to back just using whatever they've harvested from the pile of corpses left behind
hi check out all the stuff i like guys
I felt like i should upload these incase i end up losing them. i did a few animations in Piskel based on the game Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead. I've been tempted to do more of them, but haven’t really been interested lol. I noticed in the most recent release of the game there are animations for some objects in game, and it reminded me that these were on my hard drive. Maybe I'll get back into making these and try to see if I can make a texture pack for the game.
I found this amusing
Promo video for Magic Castle, a Net Yaroze game that was never finished... until recently!
Magic Castle is a rogue-lite game where you explore 20 floors of a dungeon to defeat an evil warlock. It was planned to have four-player simultaneous multiplayer and included a number of very modern features, including a HUD that can be re-positioned on the screen, an item wheel that allows for weapon switching/item use without pausing, and dynamic music.
The game was being developed by ex-members of Video Systems (who worked on the Aero Wings series among others) and was essentially an indie passion project, something they hoped they could get funding to make into a larger game, but while Sony was impressed by the game, they were more interested in the devs working on another project. Eventually Magic Castle was abandoned and the devs went their separate ways.
However, recently (December 2020) they released a completed version of the game. It has some bugs and they’re still working on full multi-tap support for the multiplayer, but it’s 100% beatable. The developers also gave an interview where they discussed the project, what the Net Yaroze scene was like back in the day, and what they are up to now.
