If you're ever thinking of getting Soulash 2 (pronounced Soul Lash, not Sou Lash or Soul Ash), a rougelike game on steam in the vein of Dwarf Fortress's Adventure Mode, you might want to look into recent reviews. They're weird af:
Lots of reviews with almost no playtime all saying stuff like this. These are also pretty recent too, and there's a lot of them. So what happened? Well, Soulash 2 added a feature that allowed you to marry others. Then this happened:
The response on steam is fine, for the most part, since it seems like marriage was to make children. The addendum on the twitter post, though, is a bit much.
After some time passed and discussions were had, the dev said this:
So yeah, it seems the dev is notably homophobic, and most of the recent sales were from people brigading the steam reviews with positive reviews to tell LGBT people off. I mean, that's one way to make money, I guess. He won't have any credibility as a dev anymore though since he compared LGBT people politely asking for representation to nazis, communism and religious oppression.
As a bonus, he even knows people can only really "type some words" about this, in a way that felt like it's weak, yet he clearly felt attacked as if they were strong. You know, like how hateful people will do the "enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak" act.
And by "hateful people" I mean fascists,
Anyways, had to get this off my chest after reading about this.
