the family of of my brothers-in-law is originally from bombay and he’s honestly supplied most my knowledge of all things indian, and he has this running thing with his dad where his dad will constantly mock north indians and he’s like “literally nobody considers bombay to be south india expect for you baba”

Your brother-in-law is right, but his dad is def not the only person who thinks Bombay/Maharashtra is part of South India like I’ve met a bunch of people who think that and then when they get questioned abt it, are all like, “but we’re different from the actual people in the north though like we’re not like THEM we’re US” and it’s like.........no. just no.
