We’re working on filling up our route substitute list
This list includes names and contact information for people interested in stepping up to deliver routes when our carriers have to take time off their routes. A substitute would ride with the carrier and be trained on the route prior to the time they’re filling in, and they would be given a subscriber list and audio recording of the carrier doing the route.
Carriers are independent contractors, and they hire (and pay) their own substitutes based on the specifics of the route and availability of substitutes. A substitute who does a great job would be given preference to have their own route/independent contract when we have route openings.
