How to Restart Netis Router | Reboot Netis Router
Seriously Reboot / Reset / and update your Router – A short article
The FBI seized a server from a Russian hacking group that released a router infecting malware called VPNFilter which routed internet traffic through their server, so they could glean useful information from the data collected. You can learn more about it here https://www.cnet.com/how-to/the-fbi-says-you-should-reboot-your-router-should-you/.
Only a small handful of routers were affected:
Linksys: E1200, E2500, WRVS4400N
Mikrotik: 1016, 1036, 1072
Netgear: DGN2200, R6400, R7000, R8000, WNR1000, WNR2000
QNAP: TS251, S439 Pro, other QNAP NAS devices running QTS software
TP-Link: R600VPN
For the most part the virus is propagating itself in router firmware that has not been updated. Rebooting the router will alleviate the effects of the problem and may act as a temporary band-aid measure but resetting the router back to its factory original firmware should resolve the problem. Once the reset is complete the router’s firmware should be updated to remove the threat of re-infection.
If you own one of these routers you need to consult your manual and follow the instructions to reset your router. Here are the links to the support pages for these companies for those of you who can’t locate your manuals.

To date Netgear is the only company to post a page about the problem. All the companies with affected routers are currently investigating the problem. For now a complete reset and update of the routers firmware seems to be the only solution to the problem.
