Sherlock was bored, looking around the small diner he had stopped in for dinner. He didn’t like all the traveling and things that were unfamiliar. Jet lag, lack of decent tea and pure and simple loneliness got to him after a while. It was times like these that boredom threatened to overtake his mind, which was never a good thing.
Sherlock knew he had to find something or someone with which to occupy his mind with soon. There had been no cases where he was at the moment, no puzzles for him to unravel, and that made it the worst scenario of all.
Sherlock looked around the diner, after he had placed his order, noticing a girl in the corner table in her early twenties. She seemed to be by herself at the moment, as was he, and so he decided that perhaps a conversation could at least be attempted. Mycroft had always said he needed to work on his ‘social skills’, so what better way.
“Excuse me . . .” said Sherlock carefully. “I was wondering if you might know the time, seems I haven’t switched my watch over and my mobile’s battery died.”
