“Yeah, I know. It’s touching how they went all the way to see me, but it really startled me,” Roy spoke of his experience last year, when a fan visited him at the Georgetown University campus. It was a jarring experience; for him, his life as a student abroad and as a singer at home were two wildly different things.  “I was running late for my Mandarin class, too. I told her straight out that what she did was not acceptable. Was I wrong to do that?”

“No, you weren’t wrong.” No matter how many years you endured the idol life-style, there were always a few antics that stepped too far and remained with you. He could recall a time where a fan disguised herself as hotel staff and took a photo of the quintet around the pool, it was an alarming feat but to say he didn’t understand would lie. “It’s just.. We’re put on a pedestal, you know? People think we’re this ethereal being and it’s a shame because we are human. I know that sounds a little obvious but that’s why they want to be close, because they want to know if the fantasy meets their own ideologies. And they do over-step the mark, trust me what you went through wasn’t.. good, and although they mean well, it’s just about the delivery to let them know that you aren’t any different from them.”
