Who's afraid of (little old) me?

Well, I did it. I gave in. I caved.

I started a new story in the Unbreakable universe. If you don't know, the Unbreakable universe is my original universe set in modern-day Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. It's a world in which magic is real, but hidden. It's the story of Euwenn Gilmore, who is cursed in book 1 and then must deal with the fallout of that curse and the subsequent events for the rest of his life.

Book 6: Who's Afraid of Me (working title) is now 10k words deep and full of pain and whump already. There's enough information in the first few chapters to get you going, if you don't wanna march through the 300k of the rest of the universe first (though, like, read that too!!)

I'd love to have you onboard with me through this journey! It's gonna be a fun one! I'll also provide bits of the playlist that I listen to as I work through different chapters! The primary song? Who's Afraid of Little Old Me (T Swift). Also featured are Beyonce, Hozier, and a cover by Disturbed.

Friday Kiss Tag

It's not Friday anymore, but I was too tired yesterday.

Rules: from your Story/WIP, share a kiss. It can be any kiss, from familial pecks on the cheek, forehead kisses, platonic smooches, to full-blown makeouts

I had to think hard about what kiss wouldn't be a spoiler. I mean, I suppose this is a spoiler, but ... oh well.

This is from the Unbreakable series, Empire of Dirt, the fifth book.

“She kissed you,” Euwenn says. There’s no recrimination in his voice, just a hidden question: did it mean anything?

And what can Rowan answer to that, except a resounding no!

“She kissed me,” Rowan spits. “She kissed me and I knew you were there and I hated every second of it. But she had people there, she would have killed you in a second if I had resisted.”

He shudders, remembering her hands in his hair, on his neck, on his body. He remembers her lips on his and gods what he wouldn’t do to erase that memory. Unconsciously, his eyes flick down to Euwenn’s lips. This isn’t the time, damn him, but gods does he want to erase Christine’s memory, replace it with Euwenn.

Euwenn tracks Rowan’s gaze. He pulls Rowan’s hand, tugging Rowan closer.

“Kiss me,” Euwenn says simply. “If you want to. If you need to.”

Rowan glances up at him in surprise. “Wen – it’s … but –”

“It’s okay, Rowan. It’s okay.”

Rowan shakes his head. “No, no, it’s not okay. It’s not. I … I hurt you, so badly. I left you when you were hurting. I abandoned you. I can’t just ask you for forgiveness and move on as if nothing happened.”

Euwenn shakes his head. “There’s no forgiveness to ask for, because it’s already been given.”

“What?”

Euwenn tugs Rowan forward again. “I already forgave you. When they found the explosives, when I realized what game she was playing, I forgave you then and there.” He shakes his head. “We have things to talk about, and there’s no way we can just pick up where we left off. But it’s been nearly two weeks and I miss you and I’m tired. Kiss me, Rowan.”

Rowan whimpers. He wants to. He wants to so badly. He wants to lean in and pull Euwenn close to him. He wants to replace the feel of Christine pressing into him with the feel of Euwenn’s body. He wants … he wants … he wants.

So he gives in.

With a small sob, Rowan closes the distance between them. He snakes one hand up into Euwenn’s hair, angling Euwenn’s head just right. Rowan captures Euwenn’s lips with his, swallowing Euwenn’s soft whimper. Rowan’s other hand wraps around Euwenn’s waist and he pulls Euwenn to him, as close as he can.

It feels like coming home.

Come check out my original story about a young man who is cursed by a witch to wander the streets of Pittsburgh alone. He finds a friend -- well, a few, actually -- after encountering a werewolf, and the adventure is on!

Don't worry about the word count -- the story is actually a trilogy, each set being about 75k long, so it's doable :) It's still in progress, but I get a chapter out about every 3 days or so.
