Spent the weekend visiting extended family w/ my aunt & cousin. Come home to the news from Mom that she found my sweet little Roxy dead this morning. She said she looked peaceful & didn’t have a scratch on her (obvi not b/c her dog would keep her safe from anything) but she wasn’t breathing.

I’ve never cried over a cat before but Roxy was the most special & wonderful baby.

So I’m heartbroken w/ at bad ending to a nice weekend and I’ve got 3 anxious pups, one of whom is mopey & missing her buddy (Mom said she didn’t perk up at all till I got home and she’s still not herself).

RIP, baby. Catch all the mice and befriend all the pups in heaven

(as an aside, when i eventually look into a new kitty, I’m gonna try to let her dog pick it out. It’s all that makes any sense)

Roxy Cat has taken to leaping into the air and cheat bumping Regan (her favorite dog)

Last night I was crouched on the porch, petting Susie & Regan (my 2 labs). Roxy (the cat) came up the stairs & sat on the one right under the top step & meowed at me. So I meowed back. She meowed again. I meowed back. Regan popped her head up, looked from me to Roxy with a “wtf” look & slapped at Roxy with one of her (seriously big) paws.

I gave Regan a light pop and told her that wasn’t very nice at which point Roxy started purring and she and Regan nuzzled their heads.

Well, I guess they didn’t need their mama’s intervention.

Couple things about my cat

She came up mewing while I was giving dogs scraps. I thought she wanted some but my baby had herself a mouse. So proud of her. I was getting the feeling the dogs were taking her kills, but now I have proof. (I got her to kill mice & keep my dogs cat-friendly, turns out she was sweet enough that I love her regardless). 

Also, we always get the dogs to where they let us pet them w/ our feet so if we’ve got our hands full, are grilling, etc, we can still pet them. The cat also now lets me pet her w/ my foot (though, being a cat, she occasionally attacks it lol)
