@badgertablet, @ollie-oxen-free and I were gushing about Poppy and Papyrus just having a night to smoke and get drunk and forget their problems, so I wrote a tiny thing. Have this tiny thing.
The two of them swayed on their feet, Papyrus laughing heartily about something that’d happened ten minutes before as Poppy did his level best to hold the both of them up as they moved along the sidewalk. It’d been a wild night, the night just for the two of them to get absolutely shit faced and take a load off.
Papyrus, still chuckling helplessly, swayed dangerously and, as Poppy wasn’t well balanced himself, the two of them tumbled over, laid flat on the ground in silence for however long it took for the two of them to realize that they were on the ground, instead of standing. As soon as the knowledge took hold, Papyrus was off again, laughing his nonexistent lungs out as Poppy laid helpless beside him, a large grin on his face.
They really should have ordered a damn uber when they were sober.
[Let’s just say that it’s still november 15th, cuz i thought about how this would work in post-Moving Forward for a long time last night. I kind of like how this ship works there? Now I’m considering putting storyshift (or sort of storyshift?) characters in Moving Forward. So this’ll be written like how I’d put them in the story.]
[And cuz i know some people don’t really like these ships, it’ll be under a cut.]
-Poppy and the rest of their Underground end up appearing much further Eastward than the other Monsters. The humans make sure they aren’t Fell-verse and then put them with the other Tale-verse monsters.
-By now, the humans are willing to expand the Tale-verse side, cuz they’d rather deal with Tale Undyne and Alphys than Fell Undyne and Alphys. So the new monsters get their own little pocket to the South of the “downtown” area of Ebbott town.
-Poppy ends up living alone in a small-ish house, done with his bros bullshit and lets the human(? idk this AU very well, so let’s say this is true.) stay with the goat family and their other human child.
-Poppy meets Papyrus when he goes to find seeds to make a garden in his yard. Papyrus is sort of a tour guide there? But he also was told to help new monsters out by Undyne as his job.
-So they become friends pretty easily, and Papyrus is interested in this new version of him (because wow, a Boss Monster? A version of him is a Boss Monster?) so he says that he’ll help Poppy with his garden if he’d like.
-Poppy thinks he’s sweet, and says he’ll let him help when he decides to start the garden. They trade numbers and that’s their first meeting.
-Poppy eventually starts meeting Papyrus for lunch and such, and Papyrus tries to get more reasons to meet up with Poppy. I think Papyrus gives him more reasons to socialize and just do things around town instead of be secluded like back Underground. And Papyrus gets a chance to just, be himself? let himself relax and say how he really feels maybe.
-Also, Papyrus knows not to introduce Poppy to Sans, only because Sans kind of already told him about “the sans that’s a boss monster that works at the embassy”. Papyrus kind of suspects there’s some sort of bad blood between them, so he talks about his brother not as often if he can help it.
-Poppy appreciates this, but thinks it’s funny when Papyrus tries to censor himself. It’s not really a horrible relationship he has with his bro? They just aren’t on speaking terms quite yet. So Papyrus technically can talk about his bro, Poppy won’t mind, but he’s not going to say anything because it’s funny. Papyrus will figure it out eventually.
