[COVERAGE] 150502 Royal Pirates became romantic baristas for their lucky fans!

Royal Pirates, a Korean- American Rock band, had finished their first showcase in Malaysia from 30th May to 3rd May 2015 for their promotion of their latest album “Love Toxic”. This was their first time coming to Malaysia to meet their fans, who were able to enjoy their Live Performance through “Love Toxic” showcase in East Malaysia and Peninsular Malaysia.

               Royal Pirates consists of guitarist-vocalist Moon, Drummer Soo-yoon and bassist James. Since September in 2008, Royal Pirates gained popularity on Youtube by uploading covers of songs such as Nobody by Wonder Girls, Circus by Britney Spears, Mirotic by DBSK and more. They reached 18 000 viewers within two weeks. Additionally, they covered “Sorry Sorry” by Super Junior, after which they received an invitation to appear on a show, which helped them to gain further popularity. In August 2013, Royal Pirates released a digital single – “Shout Out”. With a successful debut of their mini album “Drawing on the Line” in January 2014, Royal Pirates released their second mini album “Love Toxic” in August. The album includes five songs which comprises by three new songs and two English versions of their singles “Bettling Eveything” and “You” which was released earlier on.

               Beginning January 2014, Royal Pirates were special guests for Lee Min ho’s global concert tour. Following their successful showcase which was held on 1st May at 1Borneo Hypermall, Kota Kinabalu Sabah, we had covered their events in Kuala Lumpur started from 2nd May to 3rd May 2015. The events brought to Malaysian fans by Universal Music Malaysia with Hotlink as official Telco.

After a successful show in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Royal Pirates came to their second stop for their Malaysia Tour- Kuala Lumpur. The showcase was scheduled on 3rd May, but they came a day earlier for a date with lucky winners of HOTLINK contest. The fans enjoyed their #LiveLifeLoud experiences with the handsome boys in Dalkomm. Café, IOI City Mall.  

The date event started around 7PM and the members had learned how to brew delicious coffee for their fans. The fans could not take their eyes off the handsome trio as RP members showed off their barista skills especially Moon who had one-year-experience as a barista.  The learning session filled with laughter and smile, with member James funny jokes on their Latte decorations.

James:  What should I draw on my latte? Fans: Pirates! Please draw pirates! James: Why do you keep asking me to do difficult things ㅠㅠ

The special date session continues as the members served their handmade coffee s to the lucky girls. When we asked the fans how the taste was, they said it beyond your imagination! Well, of course when your oppas made them for you would be priceless!

After the fans enjoyed their coffee, they had an intimate time with the boys when they had split into three teams with their favourite members. During this session, each team had to create a creative latte art. The experienced barista Team Moon had won the coffee making competition with his Latte art -                 “Moon on the Moon” or shortened as “ MOM”, specially made for Mother’s Day. The winning team then had received special gifts from Dalkomm. Café.  From the competition, we could see that the members had grew closer with their fans as they worked hard together to win the contest. Not to mention the sweet, heart thumping moments too!

All nine fans had a chance to ask one question to the members. The enjoyable, funny talk took around thirty minutes and the talkative members showed their funny and dorky side as well. Below are some questions and answers from the Q&A: Fan: What is your ideal type of girl? James: It keeps changing for me but now I think I like cute girls (Moon laughed as one of the fans made a cute gesture and he pointed at her while copying the aegyo action ㅋㅋㅋ) Moon: I like femine girl Sooyoon:   I like girls who are fun, have long hair and pretty eyes. 

The members also were asked to show off their talents. Sooyoon’s fan brought her drumstick and asked him to show his stick tricks and he made the spinning tricks easily. Meanwhile, Moon moved his back bones (?) and made the fans screamed in surprised. He also showed finger tricks and the fans laughed, followed him by saying that they could do that as well.  

James said he did not have anything to show , making the fans asked him to act like he is in a runaway but he refused to do so and did aegyo instead. From the Q&A, the members also gave hints on their next album that will be about their own story of life. James said that fans will be able to know them closer and hope for a successful comeback. The fun-talk session ended with high-5 with the fans . Royal Pirates continued their schedule with various interviews and invitations to local radio and TV stations during their stay in Malaysia.  We would like to say our gratitude to Universal Music Malaysia and Hotlink for this awesome opportunity to cover the event.
