❝ i - i’m – i’m j - just trying to – to save myself th - the pain of you e - eventually leaving on your o - own by – b - by pushing you away m - myself. ❞ she whispers, curling up on her side on the bed. melody wants to believe that he won’t leave, but everyone else has, so what would stop him from leaving too? she’s not sure she could try if he wanted to. it happens so much she’s numb to it. she’s learned to expect it. but if she drives them away first, it’s not as painful for her ( or at least, in her opinion it isn’t, but god it hurts so much ).

melody sits up, suddenly wrapping her arms around him and burying her face in his shoulder. ❝ i - i’m – i’m s - sorry. i d - don’t mean to d - d - doubt you so m - much, aisel. i’m so s - sorry. ❞ she begins to sob, digits tightly clutching the back of his shirt. what did she do to deserve him? how could she think she could EVER push him away? while everyone else seemed intent on staying, they still left, but aisel seems different. he’s INSISTED on staying with her and actually seems to want to stay, as if he’s not just tolerating her. why are people like him so rare?❝ i - i – i don’t d - deserve you, a - aisel. y - you – you deserve someone s - so m - much better. ❞
