Menagerie Enid Marx A large sheet to cut out and make. The working drawings are on show at The House of Illustration. It was commissioned by Noel Carrington for Royle Publications but unfortunately its publication coincided with Royle dropping all their book titles in favour of their expanding card business. The result was that this title, and others including a Stebbing peep show, suffered so it never achieved wide sales. In fact the sheets were so flimsy that the cutouts wouldn’t have stood up, so in all a rather sad ending to what could have been a wonderful project. #enidmarx #roylepublications #menagerie @illustrationhq #circus
