The State I’m In by The Royston Club EP Review

Young covers the plight of adolescence, not just in this new generation; by implementing lyrics that are universally true of the young, they inadvertantly include everyone’s teenage experience. The EP continues in this way of light and movable indie rock, keeping an upbeat sort of mood throughout, and including lyrics that highlight key moments from youth (mostly crushes and romanticism). It’s the pleasantness in their vocals, mixed with the surprising elements of each song, that keeps this one afloat against the tide of all the other indie rock bands who write about past loves and missed messages.
