So forgive me because this is gonna sound like a paid-for-review, but it’s not. I’m just really happy I finally found a decent map making program that doesn’t make me wade through leagues of bullshit just to create a decent looking map. But here it is-- my worldmap made in Wonderdraft-- a nice, simple, easy-to-navigate little program made specifically for making maps. I don’t know why I wasted so much time frustrated in inkarnate paying $5 a month when this thing existed the whole time with way more options and even the ability to add custom assets (or so i’ve heard, i’ve yet to add any). But it’s really simple and self-explanatory, which is super awesome to me because I get so confused in complicated, professional programs like photoshop or whatever. Everything is labelled, theres enough customization but also not too much to where you’re overwhelmed, and it’s easy to pick up first time and just make a quick map. This whole thing literally took me like... an hour, tops.
My favorite part is that you don’t pay a monthly membership fee at all. You pay a one time $30 fee and the program is yours forever. And unlike inkarnate, all the maps made in the program are yours and not owned by Wonderdraft. And not to mention, you can use just about any tablet/tablet pen to paint your maps too, rather than pointing and clicking with a mouse. I think that’s the best part imo.
Okay. Totally sounded like a paid advertisement, I know lmfao. But this is really good for beginners who wanna cut to the chase of map making with little difficulty. So if you’ve got the extra cash to toss away, I recommend it heavily.
