finally finished my rewrite's map of the old territories...yippee! it takes place in southeast appalachia :-) i'll tag this au "wc appalachia au" for now til i get more into it bc i don't have much else to call it by yet because i am juggling doing family trees, territories, conlang, and figuring out story stuff all at once so it's a little all over the place atm
the original foothills clanlands ("forest territories") are based in the brushy mountains of western NC, but the clans move deeper into the blue ridge mountains to get to the lake clanlands later on!
this is my first actual post abt my au, but i'm super excited to get more into it !!
Two versions of a map of a peninsula in a homebrew world I made a while ago for a DnD campaign that never really took place, but oh well it looks cool at least I can stare at it
A continent battered and broken from an ancient war, now a land where the winds whisper riddles and the trees play you for the fool.
The twin cities of Sennari and Sannari are the most populated urban centers, and both are controlled from the shadows by the Azamu Syndicate - a highly secretive, highly organized criminal group that started as a ring of underground gambling houses. Together, the cities are sometimes referred to as the Sonam region.
- The Eversong Resevoir, located to the west of Sennari, is a massive freshwater lake that powers the twin cities and holds one of the world's most advanced dam systems.
- The Fragments are an archipelago to the south. Legends say that the Bastion of Wrath and the Bastion of Absolution, as part of the brutal war between the gods in antiquity, both destroyed the entire southern region of the continent in their clash. When the conflict died down, they threw their weapons into the sea in an act of benevolence. Two stone structures in the south sea are thought to be what remains of these items.
-The Empyrean is a towering mountain that soars high into the clouds, surrounded by steep and treacherous cliffs. Legends link it to the Bastion of Earth, who is said to reside at the very top. Nobody who has made the journey has ever returned.
-Souna village is a quiet Tabaxi village at the foot of The Empyrean, and Kamino's hometown.
-The House of Reeds is a dark and murky jungle that plays tricks on those who enter. Travelers are often led astray by winding paths that either lead you back to the entrance if you're lucky, or to certain death if you're not. The Sennaran government forbids entry into the region, only granting temporary permits for research purposes. This hasn't stopped the adventurous types, and whispers even abound that a chapter of the Azamu Syndicate operates out of the heart of the jungle.
-The Eternal Tree is said to have been present during the ancient divine war. It saw the shattering of the lands, and remains in quiet contemplation. The citizens of Guanzi Hollow are its caretakers.
-To the north, as the nights grow colder, nestled in an inconspicuous wood, lies the Yuèguāng Ruins. Stories passed down from Errentai claim that somewhere within lies an entrance to what some call "The Other Side", the dreamlike domain of the Bastion of Repose.
Mirand Sia, my setting for my upcoming dnd game. The known world is surrounded by a tall wall of ice and the closer you get to it the more aberrations you will find. The technologically advanced kingdom of Eloria was besieged by said aberrations, and in its place the city-states of Mirand Sia arose.
Super excited to dm this for my players, I've been working on it for over a year! The world is post industrial revolution, with everything that implies, so that's been a bit of a challenge.
For some time I have been working on a world map, and finally got to a point I feel more or less satisfied with. With the new addition we have the northern regions that include Iskanthrad, Valdrakheim and Valvyr'Kethen.
For the southern parts there are the Deep Jungles, a mostly unexplored area that Drissau claim is under their control, though for the most part they only live on the outer parts of it, leaving much of it a mystery.
To the south-west we have the Nazeerian Expanse. A vast land that are known for the powerful dragons residing there. Though the contact remains somewhat limited, the region trade with the rest thanks to trade routes charted by the Cannonball Trade Company, who holds a monopoly within Ikune on the knowledge of travelling safely across the sea.
To the east there are the shattered isles. The lore remains a bit limited on this region for now, but what is known is that the Kalaniar originated from there before the great storm migration that caused them to set sail.
The Core connects all Temporal Gateways in the starlight path, serving as a central hub and linking the nine worlds of Myriad. Due to its placement in the eye-shaped configuration of the nine worlds, The Core is sometimes referred to as ‘The Pupil’ by astronomers.
For thousands of years, The Core floated alone through the cosmos, witnessing the birth and demise of countless worlds and stars, until it stumbled upon a barren planet in its path and brought it into orbit. Recognizing the potential of this ruined land, The Core gifted its own power to grant it a fresh opportunity, and Prosperia was born. Under the lonely planet's protection, a vibrant realm of immortal personifications flourished.
In the centuries that followed, The Core came to the rescue of seven more worlds, granting them portions of its power to facilitate their growth. As civilizations thrived and advanced, interest grew, and a young immortal from Prosperia named Bartholomew Amias Spark became especially interested in studying the central world. However, without a means of reaching it, his research soon came to a halt. Desperate to see The Core for himself, he created a rudimentary travel system and reached their rescuer.
Bartholomew dedicated years to his studies, meticulously tracing each detail and conducting countless experiments. His efforts were rewarded when he made a groundbreaking discovery: The Core is a sentient being. Fuelled by his breakthrough, Bartholomew was determined to communicate and succeeded by permitting the world access to his mind.
The professor listened intently to The Core, nurturing it and absorbing stories of adventure and exploration, pushing further into the bounds of knowledge. Over time, he made the world his home and established a personal lab to direct further experiments and foster progress across the nine worlds. However, his growing curiosity tempted him towards more ambitious endeavors, and he daydreamed about visiting other planets. With the same basic system he had used to reach the central world, and with The Core's guidance, he created the first Temporal Gateway and set about installing them across Myriad.
As rumors of the enigmatic professor spread, The Core earned its reputation as the residence of Professor Bartholomew Amias Spark, The Navigator of the Starlight Path and the protector of all worlds. Luceras, the lord of creativity and Bartholomew's brother, later constructed a vast library on the largest moon, containing the history and education of every world in Myriad to connect the worlds through knowledge.
