"you did that? all by yourself?" for Shok and Adhlea, please?
Sure thing!
Adhlea held a note in her hand tightly, with strict instructions not to read it, only to take it directly to the Inquisitor. She skipped up into her quarters. Bull was in the tavern so she didn’t knock, just let herself in. Shokrakar was sat on the edge of his bed, grumbling to himself, his back turned away from the stairs. His arms were moving in and out slowly. Adhlea stopped dead in her tracks, what was he doing? She dread to think.
She cleared her throat. “I-inquisitor?”
Shokrakar jumped, almost out of his skin, he sat up straight, his arms moved apart, followed by a light tapping sound. Did he drop something? He turned around quickly. “Ah! Adhlea…it’s just you.”
“I-I have a note Inquisitor.” Adhlea held the note out in front of her.
Shokrakar stood up slowly, something else fell to the floor as he did. “Thank you, Adhlea. Is that all?” He approached her, and took the letter from her hand.
“Inquisitor. What did you just drop?”
“What? I didn’t drop anything.”
“I heard you.”
Shokrakar sighed, throwing the letter onto his desk. “Fine, but you can’t tell anyone!”
“I would never.”
Shokrakar walked over to the side of his bed and picked up two small balls of yarn, and two large wooden knitting needles. He dropped them onto the bed to reveal an already half knitted scarf.
“It’s for the children, they looked cold.”
“You did that? All by yourself?”
“Y-yeah.”
Adhlea sat on Shokrakar’s bed, she gently stroked the scarf. “This is lovely. Would you teach me?” She looked up at Shokrakar, a large smile on her face.
“Adhlea?” Shokrakar quietly knocked on Adhlea’s door. “Do you wanna build a snowman?” Skyhold had been blanketed in a thick layer of snow, much deeper than it had before. Everyone was either loving it and having fun or bundling themself up and trying to avoid the icy breeze in the air. He stood patiently, waiting for an answer, none came but he heard footsteps echoing across the old floorboards. Small and gentle creaks following every step, the handle of the door twisted.
Adhlea slowly opened her door, peering up at the large Qunari who filled her doorway. “I’m a little busy, Shok,” She had a mountain of work todo, leaving it now would be something she regretted later. She looked up at the large silver eyes that stared down at her, he looked like a puppy waiting for a treat. Adhlea sighed softly. “Alright, let me get a coat.” She peered out of her window, some snow had built up in front of it, blocking Adhlea’s view a little. Skyhold was cold anyway but she knew this would only make it colder.
Adhlea grabbed the warmest coat she could find and slipped it on, then put on a pair of gloves too, she was no fool and wasn’t planning to get sick anytime soon. Shokrakar looked on with a smile as she walked towards him. A small smile appeared on her face when she saw how happy Shokrakar looked, his smile was a little forced. Whenever he and Adhlea spent time together he felt a heavy weight on his heart, something he couldn’t quite explain. Maybe it was because of this feeling that he spent so much time with Adhlea. He always tried to a coax laughs and smiles out of her, his heart lifting as her face lit up.
The pair headed down the stairs and through the great hall to Skyhold’s main stairs. Adhlea looked on at the beautiful sight before her. Skyhold was already beautiful but when covered in snow it was even more amazing. She pulled her coat in tighter, it may have been beautiful but it was freezing. Adhlea slowly began to walk down the stairs, they were a little slippy but she took every step with ease. She felt Shokrakar’s hand hovering above her shoulder, ready to catch her if she slips.
“The more you focus on me, the more likely it is that you’ll slip,” Adhlea told Shokrakar, glancing back over her shoulder at him. Her gentle grey eyes meeting his. He continued to watch her, his gaze not breaking from her.
“It’s a risk I’m willing to take,” Shokrakar smirked a little. They reached the last step and planted their feet firmly on the even ground. They looked around until they found a nice area of untouched snow, with Skyhold being so big it didn’t take them long. Down by the side of the tavern, just a little space away from Cassandra.
“I’ll make the base!” Shokrakar called happily, picking up a large pile of snow in his arms.
“Aren’t you supposed to role the snow to make the base?” Adhlea lifted her eyebrow at the large pile of snow in Shokrakar’s arms.
Shokrakar dropped the pile and began to pat it into a pyramid. “There’s no law saying you have to,” He shrugged and got onto his knees.. “It’s more fun if you do it how you want to.” He added more and more snow to his pile, patting and shaping it happily.
Adhlea smiled, watching him. “I suppose you’re right.” She knelt down next to him. “Let me help.” Adhlea started to add to the large, growing, pile. It got large and larger, Adhlea had to get off her knees to reach the top of the pile and this was apparently only the base. “It’s going to be huge!” She smiled brightly.
“It is!” Shokrakar grinned. He began to shape the sides to make the middle of the snowman, curving it into a more rounded shape, Adhlea looked up at it, even Shokrakar was struggling now, the pile they had made reached his chip and it seemed to only get bigger. She was beginning to wonder how they could put the snowman’s head on.
As Shokrakar worked on the midsection Adhlea began to make the head. Rolling up snow to make a large, white, ball. It may have not been as big as the other parts of the snowman but she did her best. Barely able to pick it up she heaved it up into her arms and carried it over to Shokrakar. “Got the head!” She beamed. Adhlea looked up at the snowman then up at the Shokrakar. “I-I can’t reach.”
“Let me help,” Shokrakar stood behind Adhlea and gently grabbed her waist. He get a tight hold of Adhlea and slowly lifted her up, holding her high enough so she could reach the top of the snowman. Adhlea pushed the head onto the snowman, then carved a face. Two small eyes and a large smile. Shokrakar gently lowered her, placing Adhlea back onto the ground. “He looks great! I’m glad we could do this together.”
Adhlea smiled, admiring their odd but self made creation. “Me too.”
