Wesfarmers: 1st Half Net Profit Falls 87% on Bunnings, Target Writedowns
Net profit for the six months through December was 212 million Australian dollars (US$167 million). Excluding the writedowns, net profit was roughly A$1.5 billion, a decline of nearly 3%. Operating revenue, however, rose about 3% to nearly A$36 billion.

Masters employs muscle to control ugly behaviour "Hardware insiders report GA is moving stock around the network, pulling good stock out of unpopular stores and shifting it into their higher traffic outlets. "One supplier said it was expensive to move stock around the national network and it left the weaker performing Masters stores with unappealing inventory. "Masters has already taken pricing information off its website and closed phone lines to its stores." Costco set for record Australian sales "We're hoping to open one [store] in Marsden Park in Sydney next year, in July. And [the northern Melbourne suburb] Epping is probably going to be [20]18, I think. That's the horizon right now. There are a number of other opportunities around the country but those are the two that we have in the works."
