Myrah Mehra - analysis, symbolism and speculation

My equation with Myrah is I like her character for now (she's not taking stuff that's forced on her- be it Rudra's rude behaviour or her uncle's protective measures), she is bold and good and may well actually be Paro BUT I do NOT ship MyRud however that won't come into question if she indeed is Paro, ok I don't make sense anymore Myrah as a character - Myrah is free spirited, she isn't subtle or quiet the way Paro was, which is expected if she is from the States (all Indian tv shows have to portray Westernized girls in that way or else as complete snobby bitches). Myrah comes with no baggage as Sanaya said. In a show where EVERY character has depth and layers I would like to believe there is more to Myrah than what we have seen so far. Myrah seems well mannered and warm and confident as a person, she gets along with everyone. There is a mischievous and a childish side to her. Paro parallels - Really have very little to say about Myrah without drawing parallels to Paro. Myrah is determined just like Paro is, she doen't feel insulted upon hearing "no" it just makes her all the more adamant to fulfill her resolve. Myrah also seems unawakened the way Paro was before meeting Rudra. She doesn't seem to hold feelings for Rohit, like Paro didn't for Varun, yet she's marrying him. Myrah instantly connected with Maithili the way Paro did Myrah got the wrong impression of Rudra just like Paro did despite Rudra being her rakshak in the second "first" meeting. More parallels put forth so well by myrangrasiyalove Myrah sees Rukmini who leads her to Rudra’s wallet. Rukmini always came to Paro when there was going to be a huge change in her life. The same can be said of Myrah as she has met Rudra. Rudra rides upon his motorcycle to save Dhruv (and then Myrah), like he saved Paro the first time. Rudra is rude to Myrah, and calls her a rotten person. Rudra was also rude to Paro calling her Besharam. And both times, he is shut up so well! Rudra saves Myrah from a certain accident and he pulls her to him. Rudra saved Paro the same way when she met the goons. Mohini called Paro a Dhuakumari, and she shall find Myrah to be a ghost Symbolism - As always RR is big on symbolism and subtle hints based on which I'm gonna speculate a bit. Taking the Shiv-Parvati story parallels, looks like TRPs called for Paro to be changed from Parvati to Sati who has died, leaving Shivji (Rudra) empty and incomplete again. Myrah is the actual Parvati but if that's the case I dislike this twist. For me Paro always was and will be the Parvati in this story. Paro is Myrah - so many speculative theories on that floating around. Rukhmini and Myrah being drawn towards her. Myrah's strange fascination towards Indian, especially Rajasthan. Myrah drawn towards Dhruv, her immediate connection with Maithili. Myrah. It will be illogical and some what ridiculous but if Myrah turns out to be Paro I won't be surprised. Dhruv is the key. Like the doll bough PaRud together, Dhruv will bring MyRud closer, as much as he doesn't want to Rudra will begin seeing his Paro in Myrah somewhere (do not be surprised if Myrah is also scared of the dark and of mice or if she and Dhruv enjoy Imli together). Myrah may well have amnesia hinted by Dhruv who says to Rudra "Mumma mujhe bhool gayi hai" or something like that. Also if makers do want us to accept MyRud why keep reminding us of Paro with all the flashbacks? they're keeping Paro alive in every epi with all those beautiful flashbacks that haunt Rudra and PaRud shippers equally. And finally maybe this so called "mazedar" and "Such Is Life" twist will just be a redo of the love story but in a more TRP appealing Mills and Boon way which seems to work for all channels at whatever timeslot these days ok I don't even know what this post has become now

Rudra Pratap Ranawat - The Father

One of the few things about the leap I was interested to see was how a Paro-less Rudra will play father to Dhruv, especially seeing the kind of childhood and relationship he had with Dilsheer.

1) Rudra is daddy cool - one thing I immediately noticed about Rudra the father is he is very chilled out, let’s Dhruv do things by himself (like make breakfast). It probably comes from the relationship he shared with Dilsheer. Dilsheer gave Rudra independence, didn’t go soft on him and pamper him. However Dhruv is free to express his concerns to Rudra, something which Rudra couldn’t do with Dilsheer.

2) Rudra couldn’t discuss Mala with Dilsheer just like Dhruv can’t openly discuss Paro with Rudra. When Dhruv expresses how he misses his mum, it washes Rudra with guilt and he avoids the topic like he did when Dhruv spoke of his dream about Paro. Another thing is both Dilsheer and Rudra are guilty. Rudra feels guilty for not being able to protect Paro whereas Dilsheer was guilty of not letting Mala stay with Rudra.

3) Rudra gives Dhruv happy memories of Paro - having been denied a mother’s love in his own childhood and spending 15 years hating his mum for no reason he’s making sure his son has fond memories of Paro. Where Rudra hated women and grew up with so much poison in his heart regarding relationships, his son is being given a mother’s love by both Maithili and Rudra. Dhruv will not grow up to be mistrusting like Rudra was, instead will be compassionate and believe in love the way his mum did.

4) Rudra is Dhruv’s best friend - The epi where the leap happens Dhruv wants to be just like Rudra, they share a buddy kind of relationship more than father and son and that is very much in character for Rudra. Rudra and Dilsheer had that kind of relationship. Dilsheer knew about everything Rudra did including his physical relationship with Laila, there was not that sense of respect from Rudra towards Dilsheer. However Dhruv respects his dad ALOT, he aspires to be just like his papa.

5) Rudra is Dhruv’s maa - When Mala left, Dilsheer could have been both a mother and father to Rudra, instead he was non. Paro’s death has made Rudra both a competent father and mother to Dhruv, despite his initial concerns of whether he is even ready for the child. (i) Rudra wants to live upto Paro’s expectations (ii) It’s the promise a dying Paro took from him that he will be a happy with their son and bring him up well (iii) Rudra knows how lonely and incomplete a childhood without parents can be, having suffered what he has, he never wanted this for his Dhruv so he is there as Dhruv’s mother. The scene post Paro’s death where Rudra sings “Heli Mhaari Sun Le” marked that he will fill Paro’s void for Dhruv.

I remember I made a post a while on Rudra the Husband and how despite having such failures like Dilsheer, Danveer and Samrat infront of him, he proved to be an ideal husband to Paro. Now, having a shattered childhood himself, seeing the maternal love of Paro and carrying the unconditional love for their child has made Rudra into a very caring, loving father. Before the leap some of the fandom thought he’d go back to being a jallad like he used to but how can he, he’s been touched by Paro and Paro is still with him in the form of Dhruv. The smile on his face may not reach his eyes but it is important for him to be happy for his son. Where Rudra’s whole life first revolved around Paro, now it’s all about Dhruv for him.

23rd July - RR take and analysis:

1) Sunehri in/and love - Ok I'm gonna stand in between Sunehri and her bashers today the way Rudra stands infront of Paro and danger simply because we need to understand her POV as well. Like myrangrasiyalove said that Sunehri is in love with the concept of love. Look what she sees around her, Samrat dotting on Maithili always, Rudra defending Paro infront of everyone, protecting Paro, hell he even took a slap for Paro - if we all want our own Rudra then how is Sunehri wrong to want someone as well. Shantanu is probably the only guy to ever pay plump Sunehri attention, make her feel special, make her habbad dhabbad so naturally she is drawn to him. Also we know he is a douche, she doesn't, she sees him as a reflection of her father and Rudra in the sense Shantanu is soft spoken and nice like Danveer, is strong and supposedly like a protector like Rudra is. Sunehri has dreamt of her uniformed man and if he is a BSD officer all the more reason for her to trust him. Shantanu's attention is so important to Sunehri, just see how dejected she sounded when she says "jaise mein hoon hi nahin" (as if I wasn't there) as she describes Shantanu ignoring her. She craves attention of a man deeply, she wants to be in love and experience the bliss both her bhabhisas do. Sunehri is naive and hasn't struggled for anything in life, she needs a heartbreak to teach her that life is not a bed of roses. As for running away reason a) move the story forward b) she feels no one wants her happiness by not allowing ehr to be with Shantanu.Sunehri is desperate for his attention and for love to an extent that she is will to be a bit impulsive and irrational here. She clearly hasn't thought this decision through. 2) Paro and Rudra susicious - I loved how both Rudra and Paro are getting leads on Shantanu and both want to discuss it with each other. Firstly, Rudra who has done BSD investigation wastes no time to corner Shantanu. Yes he might have accepted Shantanu's lies to his face but Rudra almost must have mulled the whole story in his head and also seen Shantanu's nervousness when answering Rudra's questions. Paro is also suspicious because of the ladies from Birpur. Paro is exceptionally observant, she sees what Shantanu is doing with Sunehri, also she feels she may be wrong about Shantanu and therefore ready to investigate further into the matter. I am so happy with this, Paro finally back to being smart, involved and using her own initiative. 3) Sumer vs. Shatabdi - Ok let me start with I really like Shatabdi, she may have entered into this hate marriage but is by no means going to be a victim. She wants to get even with Sumer. It's interesting to see both of them as both are children at heart but Shatabdi has been controlled alot by her father by the looks of things and Sumer is still his mother's puppet. I want to see a bond of friendship blossom between these two where they help each other find independence and self discover. 4) Paro's search and questioning compared to Rudra's questioning and search - Both again being equals and opposites. Both search Shantanu's room and seem unapologetic about it when caught but both are opposites in the way they go about it. Rudra does it like a boss, as though he's entitled to, he blatantly shows he is suspicious. Paro on the hand goes about it calmly yet she is determined to get her answered. She may be quiet but she is even more insistent to get to the truth than Rudra was. I dunno why I liked this epi though there wasn't much PaRud, it's setting things up for the drama to come with Shantanu being exposed.

Rangrasiya 21st July - where lies the strength and where lies the beauty

Two things from today's episode that have been present throughout the show but once again where highlighted today First where lies the strength: When RR started honestly never thought women in this show will be more dominate and powerful ones compared to their male other halves...PaRud are equals but so many times Paro has made Rudra bow/give in, Shatabdi rather than being a victim of domestic violence bullies Sumer herself and doesn't take shit from him, Maithili was more stronger and stood up for herself and her husband before he did and when he did it was for her. Danveer is easily blown away by Mohini if she wishes, Dilsheer has turned into a popat since Mala came back...we also saw how Sunehri refusing Shantanu to elope today put him and his plan in jeopardy. LOL recalling Jaipur track Geetanjali easily dominated VK. It's a good change and unexpected too especially when I recall epi 2 and other initial epis. Where lies the beauty: Rudra in Paro's love is intriguing to see, he has had a harsh childhood, example of his parents' failed marriage and an asshole of a role model in his father to look up to all his life YET his love is different. He is a man of few words but whatever little he says it means a great deal. The beauty of their relationship lies in how they honest they can be with each other, give into their greatest fears when around each other. The conversation they shared yesterday was so beautifully shown, And finally I love where the story is going now, Paro is quiet but effective, she is observant and now will herself learn of Shantanu's truth (OMG! my prayers have been answered Paro is back to being badass) And Major Saab also doing his own investigation with the bullet, I want him to trap Shantanu in his own mind game.

Shantanu - unravelling the villain and how he matches up to Rudra

Firstly I take all my words back regarding Shantanu being a dumb villain, he's actually playing this very smartly. Sorry writers for thinking you've written an amateur against Rudra, you've actually created an almost match for Rudra, atleast tactically. Basically Shantanu understood Rudra better than Tejawat did. 1) Shantanu is hurting Parud mentally, he is making sure they are living in fear all the time. First the attack with acid, he could have gone straight for her face but didn't, he wants them to fear worse than he's already done so they can't get a clear estimate of the exact lengths he can go to. Second attack was on Teej, this invoked further fear in the Ranwats, especially Parud. Shantanu literally touched Paro and slipped through Rudra's hands. By coming to their home he made sure they lived in fear even within the confines of the one place that is their safe place. Third attack was on the car. At the time I thought why didn't he just smash the windscreen, why be all Thor but what Shantanu did was worse and the Happy Birthday call to Rudra just made him appear more psychotic. By attacking Parud like this he keeps them guessing as to who he is, what his motives are and what else he is capable of. For someone as fearless as Rudra who has the power of the BSD behind him, the dedication for his nation and duty to keep him motivated and love for Paro to do anything to keep her safe there is no bigger reason for trepidation than the unknown. With Tejawat, Rudra always knew Tejawat, what he wanted and what he was capable of therefore was always able to stay two steps ahead, here he can't do that therefore is one upped by Shantanu. 2) Shantanu is making Rudra mentally vulnerable. Shantanu probably saw as part of the baraat, how strong Rudra is physically especially when he sets his mind to something. Shantanu outdoes even Tejawat by figuring out Rudra's weak spots. We all know how much BSD means to Rudra, making Rudra appear psychotic and paranoid infront of his seniors and even his family makes Rudra insecure and overcome by rage as we saw in the precap which clouds his ability to think straight. Not being taken seriously at work or at home, hurts his ego and leaves him more liable than ever before- when Rudra faced Tejawat Rudra was backed by BSD and his family. 3) Being dumb may be part of Shantanu's game - ok so we all think Shantanu's being stupid and overly sweet for an army officer imposter out for revenge but I think that's his plan to win the trust of every other Ranawat in the house, especially those close to Rudra (Paro,Sunehri and Maithili). By being sweet he wins their trust and sympathy and after today's trick with the voicemail Shantanu has all but cleared his name from being the culprit in every family member's mind making it even more difficult for Rudra to prove Shantanu is an imposter. 4) Sumer factor- I may be very wrong but I have a gut feeling Sumer is in this with Shantanu. Maybe he doesn't know who Shantanu is or what exactly he wants (not that Sumer would even care), Sumer is probably just after some money. He really needs to have more purpose than be there to do his mother's dirty work, money is his motive but so is outdoing Rudra and he can't do it himself so he help Shantanu, I feel. Opening the backdoor for Shantanu to escape, serving noodles with Shantanu and the voicemail today, surely it's more than a coincidence. As a villain Shantanu matches up to Rudra because he is always a step ahead, he very smartly attacks Rudra mentally, cunningly wins over Paro and the family's trust, he has ripped Rudra's pride and ego since he entered and this all leaves Rudra more feeble than he has ever been in 6 months, never has Rudra been more out of control against an enemy than he was in the precap.

Rudra – the man behind the mooch:

Let me start of by saying Rudra is one of the most layered, real and interesting characters ever on Indian tv, his inner battles with himself are relatable despite his character sometimes being larger than life or too charismatic in a way. In the last 3 episodes some flawed facet of his character were shown that we have seen before but seeing them now could be a hint of where Rangrasiya is going in the future. 1) Attention seeking Rudra – Rudra loves attention and has done since childhood, he enjoys that feeling of being made to feel like the world revolves just around him, first his mother made him feel like that and now Paro. He relishes success in his career and the praise he gets from seniors and the responsibility they trust him with. He doesn’t like sharing the limelight or position with anyone else, he looked annoyed in 9th July episode when Singh Sir praises this new officer (Shantanu) from Jammu, Rudra enjoys being “BSD ka sabse Bahadur” here, and something he doesn’t want to share with another officer. 2) Rudra’s ego – Rudra clearly is a man who is very proud and has an ego which is hurt easily. When Singh Sir suggests he leave the Haveli and relocate it hurt his ego to think his seniors don’t have faith in him. His ego took another blow when Paro agreed that they should leave the Haveli as he felt she also thinks he is incapable of protecting her despite having kept her alive for the last 6 months against all odds. He needed reassurances that they have faith in his ability; it’s more a tactical move. 3) Insecure Rudra – Rudra is very insecure even now. Yes he is more trusting than before and trusts Paro’s loyalty and love for him but he is still wary of her faith in him otherwise he wouldn’t feel she doesn’t trust his ability to protect her. He still needs verbal reassurance to set his mind at rest Watching 8th July epi my dad who usually has to watch while me and mum do and because he is genuinely a fan of Rudra now said “Rudra is one of those Shakespeare type characters whose own flaws are going to destroy him but by the time he realises that the damage will have been done” and I kinda think that may actually be the case. As we have seen when the attention shifts from him, when people who’s opinion matters to him don’t back him, when his ability is called into question (not literally , just in his perception) he doesn’t like it, he grows insecure and I really don’t think it takes alot to make him jealous. Yes his love for Paro is very selfless and strong so it’s hard to believe RR can go the Othello way but looking at this side of Rudra’s character it’s very possible for him to be a bit like Othello, doubt Paro if situations force him to but again he won’t ever kill her. If the makers decide to take it Othello way I wish they don’t make it cliché type misunderstanding and separation that we see in every other Indian show, I want it to be executed well.

Rudra and his relationship with junior Ranawats

The relationship he shares with each of them interesting, especially considering his childhood and Paro's equation with them. Samrat- Rudra's relationship with Samrat is almost non existent, Rudra neither talks to him, respects him or just treat him like an older brother. Both just tend to keep away from each other. Samrat seems to realise not to question Rudra's authority anymore, somewhere Rudra seems to inspire Samrat (just look at Samrat standing up for Maithili of late). I think Rudra dislikes Samrat for being so unmanly, weak and dependent on his mother. I don't think they really were friends in childhood either. Maithili- I absolutely love how this devar-bhabhi bond has developed. They've gone from "nahi maanta mein usko apni bhabhi" to Maithili being the first person who's feet Rudra touched out of respect. Alot I feel has to do with Paro being so close to Maithili and after Rudra it is Maithili who loves Paro most. Maithili is the person Rudra goes to for help regarding Paro. Also I think apart from Paro, Maithili is one of few to understand Rudra. There is so much potential for this bond in the wake of Mohini trying to get Samrat remarried, Rudra standing up for his bhabhi this time would be awesome. Sunehri- she represents the innocence of his childhood. It's so easy to imagine Rudra playing with her and dotting on her as a kid. The hug from Sunehri and awkward pat from Rudra before katputli dance was so cute. Again I feel alot has to do with how well Sunehri gets along with Paro, Rudra can't hate anyone who loves Paro or who Paro loves. Rudra is a protective brother to Sunehri and he trusts her. Sumer- Rudra strongly dislikes Sumer since childhood. Even now Rudra hates everything about Sumer; from him taking over Rudra's room to him aiding his mother in wanting to hurt PaRud, damaging Rudra's reputation by getting those pictures of Paro standing outside published. Rudra is everything Sumer wants - rich, has girls after him, independent and living his dream and not at all reliant on anyone. Rudra doesn't even fully consider Sumer a man, he called Sumer a "namard" or something similar when Sumer says Paro refused to marry him. There rivalry of sorts has a strong future as I feel Sumer is aiding Shantanu or will do in someway just for money. Interesting how Rudra has a stronger bond now with the two female junior Ranawats who weren't a big part of his childhood compared to the two males with he has childhood memories.

Ok before I start I want to say RR is still one of my most fave Indian shows ever and still one of the best shows on air right now but of late I feel a bit of the charm is fading, here is why: 1) Paro’s perspective is lost – yes Paro is a subtle character and therefore her reactions to situations are not as loud as say Rudra’s. Alot of her feelings are internal but still it’s beginning to feel like her perspective is lost. Her feelings, her reactions they somehow aren’t emphasised there as much as they should be and that is probably why majority of female audience (especially the trp aunties) cannot connect to her character or the show. 2) Bloopers – At one point I used to be so pleased with the RR team for how much attention they paid to detail and how there are hardly ever used to be bloopers on the show compared to other Indian dramas. Recently there have been so many big bloopers such as Paro drinking the glass of milk despite being lactose intolerant and being completely ok. Mala and Rudra both know about it so wouldn’t have let her drink it. Another big blooper was Teej coming SO early on in July, it usually falls end of July or in August. Then the most irritating blooper of all for me was the change in Rudra’s birthday. Mohini explicitly said his birthday is on 31st July then why did they move it to 4th July? As a Potterhead who loved the Harry Potter-Rudra parallels this irked me so much yesterday. As Teej is on 30th July this year, if Bapusa said yesterday that it’s 31st July it would have made so much more sense. 3) Untied ends – Tejawat’s track plus Laila’s track seemed to be loose ends with no closure even temporarily, like what is Tejawat doing now other than driving around, hiding his face behind a hanky searching for Mala. Mohini said to Mala that they’ll live under the same roof but as separate families, seems like she’s forgotten that – I kinda expected Mohini to divide the house up like Rudra did initially. Again all the backstory came to nothing much as it’s almost all normal between them all. 4) Rushed tracks – It seemed rushed the way Mala’s track was done, it didn’t seem closed properly, Rudra has one outburst with his parents and that’s it? Really? He’s someone who holds grudges so I expected him to be more pissed at Dilsheer for longer, annoyed at Mala for tolerating all the abuse, etc. I usually love the pace RR goes at but it irritates me when the tracks move fast yet not close properly or unfold completely. I just needed a bit of rant because I feel some of RR’s old charm is being lost, every epi doesn't leave you satisfied the same as it used to before. I can understand the PH being under pressure from channel, for trps, time constraints, etc. but it’s so annoying to see quality of the show being lost and the show succumbing to Indian tv stereotypes. Anyone else feel the same way?
