hello my darlings!! it's me, maeve once again with a new muse. this is actually my first male muse in a long while so this will definitely be a fun experiment! just like this post and I'll be there to plot, giving you my discord user at your request!
— with fire in his veins, and steel armor beneath his skin ⸻ he is the fiery blade itself, vowing an oath to always protect those who's nearest and dearest to his heart. born on the seventh month of the year, during the fire nation's most blistering summers, yoon jaewon's birth was celebrated by his parents and his aunt as another addition to the joyous family and being the first son in the yoon's family current lineage. jaewon had been known to be a very energetic but volatile child due to his affinity of burning things down during his many tantrums in the past, having been noted to be an early bloomer as he displayed powers of firebending at the early age of only 3 years old ( what was once a source of pride became a source of headaches for his parents and aunt )
— being the eldest son of the yoon family, as well as the avatar's eldest nephew ; it'd been expected of him to lead his family as the next heir and head of the family, taking charge of the family business. but jaewon who always been one to rebel his parents's expectations, sought out to improve his firebending and had taken up sword-fighting during his primary schooling years, decided to instead join the military and advance through the ranks.
— with his prominent relations with the avatar yuha herself and his prodigal firebending skills, jaewon definitely flourished in his military official career and had been advancing through the ranks in rapid pace ( though, not as quick as the rest of the nobles ).
— undoubtedly the bane of his parents' ( and aunt's ) existence for his constant defiance and rebellious attitude towards them, has been often seen arguing with them as they couldn't agree on anything ; not even the simplest of things. despite his strained relationship with the elders of the family, jaewon does truly love them with all his heart — it's just can't be helped that he is so incredibly frustrated with them, and them with him.
— he is his siblings' most fiercest defender and protector : being the eldest son of the family, jaewon had deemed its his duty to always protect them from any harm. has been known to have the tendency to be overprotective over them but it is without a doubt, that jaewon was very devoted to his siblings and they always have known that he is the big brother that can be trusted to defend them against anything, especially if its their own parents.
— when the fire lord suddenly announced his eldest sister's engagement and the sudden elevation of his family among the nobility, jaewon feels extremely conflicted with this new developments — especially him suddenly being a noble in overnight.
— as he couldn't bear the idea of his eldest sister on possibly facing the court alone and couldn't trust the royal family to have his sister's best interests, jaewon made an extremely impulsive decision to resign from his military career and instead join the royal guards, once again defying his parents on their expectations and their attempts to train him to be the family's heir.
— and frankly, it'd been quite easy for him to join the royal guards due to his past career as a military official and his affinity with swords ( not to mention, his familial relations with the avatar yuha and the crown prince's newly engaged betrothal )
— whilst he's known to be more impulsive and hot tempered than the rest of his family, jaewon often display a rather charming and friendly facade in social settings — and has been regarded as the light of the parties many times due to how sociable he is. ( however, his lack of rigid noble etiquettes often make him seemed rude and mannerless in the eyes of the nobility. but frankly, he doesn't quite care. )
— has been known to be quite the charmer to the ladies. with his suave, flirtatious persona and chivalrous attitude, it's easy to see why he'd become a popular fixture amongst them. unfortunately, these characteristics of his spark unsavory rumors of him being some sort of player which is infinitely far from the truth.
— because despite his tough exterior, jaewon is actually a big romantic who wears his heart on his sleeves and he often dreamed of meeting one true love.
— but for now, he rather protect his siblings from harm's ways with all his might ; being the shield and sword for his eldest sister in the treacherous royal court as well perhaps her one trusted ally.

⸻ ABOUT HIM
One of the only ( or possibly the only ) sons in House Choi. He is also a twin.
Like many other nobles, he has trained his entire life. Due to his family's unique lineage, he is a highly skilled lavabender (preferring it over standard firebending) and swordsman with a propensity for using his fists. He must be, considering his position as a member of the royal guard.
Has an itching suspicion about the death of his parents, all things considered. Part of his undying loyalty may partially be due to the fact that he has hidden worries.
Serial eavesdropper. It’s all for the sake of protecting the royal family. Seriously.
Not much interest in politics and such. Doesn’t follow the commands of anyone but the royal family, even viewing their word as priority. The only other one he would think to bend to is his eldest sister.
Always lurking, even if you don’t see him. Always.
His personality could obviously use some work but he’s oddly touched by art ( paintings, music, dance ) and will often be quietly moved by these things.
He also enjoys trying to sketch in his free time. They aren’t the best because he doesn’t get much practice in. Don’t try to look in the little notebook he always carries around or you will get a kick to the throat.
Usually doesn’t speak unless spoken to unless he outranks the other person. Courtesy and all that. He is very polite and adherent to the rules of the palace. Don’t let him catch you slipping!
Says things that are lowkey dramatic asf. Cue the “you deserve to be put to death for that” ^ comments. But... usually means it as a joke... I swear. He is actually quite cheeky sometimes.
Keen on punishment, as he does not tolerate dissidents. He is dedicated to keeping peace within the nation and palace, even if it means resorting to violence to eliminate the threat.
Has a sadistic streak and can often get a bit too into a fight sometimes.
You will probably never know if he hates you or not. Poker face at all times. But he is candid and honest with his words, perhaps to a fault. But (2) he is adept in speaking in metaphor/vaguely if a situation calls for it.
Feels and will claim that he's unworthy of love. Too willing to not make any first moves out of worry and waits it out until it's too late every time.
Kind of aware that he is a bit of an asshole sometimes because of his curt personality. Not actually that mean or malicious, just very, very bound to his duty.
He was always closest to his father out of both of his parents, following very obediently in his footsteps and according to his word up until his death. He takes offense to any negative word against either of his parents, and it is one of the few things that can make him genuinely upset.

I’m mainly a brainstorm it out kinda girl but there are a couple of ideas that could possibly work as pre-est connections.
The classic childhood friend plot? Someone around the same age.
Someone he constantly catches breaking the rules. Please convince him not to punish you harshly. Good luck. ALT. You witness him being a little too harsh on someone and try to intervene.
Friendly rival. Someone he is cautious of; though, they have their fun moments of sword practicing and that good old banter.
Rival rival. Wow, he really doesn’t like you at all and perceives you as a threat to himself or the royal family. Or both.
An actual confidant. This could be super rare because he finds it incredibly difficult to trust anyone whatsoever due to his position. He doesn't talk much but with them, it's different. Someone who won't just go spreading his stuff around.
Someone he can appreciate the arts with. Maybe an actual artist/someone who’s talented in that field.
A past fling maybe but not much beyond that. He might as well be married to his duties and wasn’t interested when he was younger.
Maybe someone who would like him to teach them how to improve their fighting skills. They might have to beg though... or bribe him with goodies.
Those who are intent on challenging his ( seemingly ) unwavering support for the current reigning family. This could result in some increasing tension or an attempt at softly convincing him of their position.

( zhou ye , female , she/her ) : ̗̀➛ twentyfour years young , a firebender from the noble house of zhao . many know them to be rakish & untempered . how unfortunate , truly … i’ve always found them to be lively & open-minded . they oft fulfill the duties of a sergeant in the fire nation army . oh , i should tell you — they oppose the rule of house yi . well , you know how every storyteller bends the tale they tell .
ruvi here and bringing you a hot girl, quite literally! she's loyal only to their family and the soldiers she's sworn to protect, though she's taken a detour along the way that's shaken things up. like the post to plot and i'll send a message here or send you my disc ♡
youngest of house zhao, she's a sponge for the best and worst parts of her family. fully entrenched in the military mindset, the only thing that matters to her is strength—everyone's equal in a fight, and the strongest person is always right. and she's strong, too, trained from young to reach the rank of captain in the fire nation army by nineteen.
but she has a moment of rebellion at twenty, a moment's impulse when she ditches her section and sneaks away from the capital. her forethought only goes as far as her fists, and she'd been curious about life on the other side. her siblings, being the ones who run the military, cover up her absence for as long as they can while on the hunt for her, eventually finding her moonlighting as a barkeep under a new name.
keran gets freedom for a year or so, working at a tavern with no expectations or lives to be in charge of. it pokes holes in her life philosophy, seeing the way might can be misused—and sometimes, just outright wrong. at least she's always strong enough to right it, but she learns to value strengths that aren't just useful for a fight. though she still thinks a fist is the strongest of them all.
but a leash comes back for her, dragging her from the urban centre back to hari bulkan. she's demoted down to sergeant, and has been stuck there for a couple of years more. she's getting antsy about it, along with her realisation that a leash is still a leash, no matter how many military medals you put on it.
she thinks house yi might not deserve the throne, having seen what happens in the urban centre, and resenting the tight leash that bites into her neck. she wants them taken down, but hasn't gotten far enough to think about who should be put in charge after.
there's a biased sense of equality to her—she's open to everyone, as long as they can beat her in a fight. she's reckless and fun loving, but can be quite dogged once she's got her teeth into something. doesn't have a head for politics, off-puttingly honest, and isn't playing the long game—most members of house zhao die young, so she might as well make the most of what she's got.

— mother's promised child, father's darling daughter — who is seok yerim if she's not her mother's pride and her father's joy? the daughter who's been prophesied to bring honor to her mother and glory to her father? since her very birth, yerim had always been seen as a heaven-sent child, blessed by the benevolent spirits themselves after the endless hours of prayers from lady seok who've done everything in her right to ensure the birth of another firebender into the linage, even to the point of making sure she'd given birth on ember island after one of the fire sages had advised her so. ( never mind the fact, the assumed birthdate was during a tempestuous storm striking upon the fire nation which even nearly nearly devastated the whole ember island apart )
— both lord and lady seok immediately rejoiced in her birth, knowing without a doubt that yerim was a firebender ; as she nearly once burned through her wooden cradle when a spark was ignited from her tiny fists in the midst of her thrashing tantrums whilst her wails and cries rumbled throughout the stone walls of the seok's manor in ember island.
— not only she was the youngest child, seok yerim was the youngest daughter of the current head of the house, which led to her immediately being pampred and doted on beyond belief by both of her parents ( and most especially, by her father ). never has she ever been denied of anything and who would even dare? definitely not after the look of her pretty doe eyes and angelic smiles.
— with her already displaying her fire prowess at only the age of 5, yerim had been sent to the royal fire academy where she had already showcased immense growth in her firebending skills to the point she'd been regarded as a prodigal firebender. even then, she'd also shown herself to be gifted in school with her growing talent and creativity in arts. in addition to her schooling, yerim herself was also still training and studying under a tutelage of scholars, firebending instructors as well as even a fire sage to hone her brilliant wits and minds to perfect.
— it's been said that seok yerim was the perfect mirror of lady seok in her younger years, from her beauty to her intelligence. unfortunately, this meant lady seok had instilled a lot projection and an unreasonable weight of expectations upon yerim as she wanted yerim to only be the best of the best. her mother's controlling nature only worsened as yerim grew older, always pushing her youngest daughter beyond her limits to be the very best of the best ( even then, it wouldn't be enough for lady seok as she always wanted her daughter to always be more )
— her father on the other hand, only fed into her gluttonous appetite for pretty and shiny things as he doted on yerim endlessly with gifts and treasure, rewarding her every whims and wishes for every gained achievements. the juxtapositions of her upbringing, with her mother bearing her hungry to the world, but her father letting her gorge on her every desires only allowed her to grow a ravenous ache within her that can't be easily satiated to the point of she couldn't even stomach her own need.
— under her mother's pressure, yerim decided to go along and finished her secondary education. however, during her last year of secondary education, yerim had returned with fresh scars upon her shoulder blades. ( yerim had claimed it was from a misguided use of her powers, but others suspected there was something more. )
— though even when she finished her secondary education, it didn't meant she was actually done with her own education. her parents ( especially her own mother ) had decided to invest an immeasurable amount of money in her education as she began preparing for her own career in ember island.
— at the ripe age of 18 years old , lady seok yerim had exercised her rights as the direct descendant of the head of the house and engaged herself in expanding the family business. yerim who always had a taste for fashion and a talent of designing, decidedly to form an elite circle composed of the most talented dressmakers and jewelers and a build a name for herself whilst opening her first boutique in the capital. to which she, of course found immediate great sucess as the clothes and accessories were immediately sought out by the nobles and the boutique became fully booked with commissions.
— golden girl, diamond divine : seok yerim was the leading lady of the high society scenes with fashionable trends ( as pushed by yours truly ) as she slowly began conquering the fashion industry whilst she expanded her lucrative business by building several branches of her boutiques scattered around the fire nation, even opening a few to the common folks.
— often with the excuses of acquiring jewels and precious stones as well of other silks and fabrics, yerim often travels to ember islands where she even began to learn other skills.
— unbeknownst to many and only known among a respected few, yerim had also founded an underground information guild where she not gained access to the many secrets roaming around the noble society thanks to her dressmakers and employees listening closely to the gossipy nobles in the fitting rooms, but also frequently sells them for a higher price. rumors also seemingly run amok on her possibly holding a highly confidential auction in the black market though she never really showed signs of it.
— with her growing ambitions ands wants for more power, yerim now intends to enter the court possibly as a lady in waiting to the one of the princesses in hopes to gaining access and influences floating around the palace.

hi! i'm vi, introducing you to jiyu. he's a muse that keeps growing over time, so information might be outdated, but below is a rundown of what he's about, his worldview and what i've got in mind for his development. thanks for reading; if you'd like to plot, discord is preferred!

the basics
lord zhao jiyu (27 years old); non-bender, naval commander. jiyu is the second oldest child of house zhao.
skills include swordfighting, hand-to-hand combat, sailing, strategy. jiyu dabbles in archery to make up for his weakness in long range fighting, but is by no means an expert.
he went to the fire nation royal academy until around age 12, when he joined the navy. he's received some private tutoring since, but has mostly been trained in the military.
jiyu is currently afflicted with greyscale. notable affected areas are his left mid-thigh and right ear. in his ear, as his illness worsens, his hearing is gradually getting worse, until he loses it completely in the sixth month of the year. while jiyu is currently under the impression that he will die, he will be cured in the seventh month. his only long-term health consequence is a ringing in his ear that rears up when he's stressed.
background
growing up in a military family, jiyu trained from a very young age. he excelled at combat and in school and spent a lot of time in his youth studying. the reason for this doggedness is his status as a non-bender; jiyu's always acutely felt that he has to make up for this shortcoming. jiyu left home early and is closer to many of his military superiors than he was to his parents, but he is by no means an absent sibling; he frequently checks in with his family and carries his duties as a zhao responsibly. jiyu rose through naval ranks quickly and has been holding his position as commander for a while. his current goal is to get his final promotion to the rank of admiral.
personality
reliabile, honest, fair, hardworking, patient, organised. jiyu is strict and demanding as a commander, but he's easy to work with: as long as his expectations are met he's happy to repay good work, and if they aren't he'll hear out explanations. he's unlikely to start yelling but has a tendency to push people further than they're comfortable with. jiyu likes order and keeps his ducks in very neat rows.
confident, laid back. jiyu is a good conversationalist. he knows how to be charming and what to say to make people like him, and has an easy time reading between the lines when others speak. with those he isn't in charge of, he can be indulgent. he's often willing to lend a helping hand to those that need it and happily steps into the role of a mentor with people looking to learn from him.
stubborn, assertive, uncompromising. he's got a set of opinions he's worked out and is unwilling to yield on them, which makes him difficult to argue with. if he agrees too quickly to an argument he was previously opposed to, he's likely just looking to cut the conversation short.
ruthless, aggressive, impulsive. jiyu's a warmongerer and an imperialist. he doesn't stand to gain much in peacetime, and is of the opinion that human sacrifices are acceptable in the pursuit of victory. he keeps these opinions very close: since some of his more extreme views aren't acceptable outside of the battlefield, he's careful about not voicing them in public.
incredibly guarded. jiyu's fallen into a military man mindset that makes it difficult for him to admit vulnerability or to open up. his struggles are his own to deal with, unless he's speaking to someone in private whom he's very close to - like a lover or a best friend. family and younger friends are excluded from this pool, jiyu's too prideful to open up to people he feels responsible for.
values, goals, and political views; tw: death, suidical ideation
in others, jiyu values fairness, honesty, and strength. he gets along with most people, but is closest to those he can argue or gossip with.
jiyu's biggest goals are making a name for himself and adding to the zhao legacy. to achieve this, he's looking to rise in the political scope, but he has no ambition to overtake his older sibling for the position of head of house or to take the throne; he's more comfortable as a second-in-command type. he likes being able to have an input and his voice heard, but he doesn't mind following orders.
as of now, jiyu is a close friend of crown prince suho, and would back him were he to take the throne - he stands to gain more than lose if he does. however, jiyu's loyalty is owed to his house, and he was raised on fantasies of the crown belonging to the zhaos. his stance might shift depending on the current politics and his own prospects.
since jiyu's struggled rising in the military as a non-bender and is at constant threat of being disrespected by inferiors challenging him to agnis kais (that he'd lose by default), he would like to see changes in policies regarding this. ultimately though, jiyu isn't an idealist - he's willing to accept net negatives for society as a whole if his own goals are furthered in the process.
jiyu wants to die in battle, and i currently plan for him to (in a decade or so). this stance is baked into his personality and a core of his worldview.
connections
a quick rundown of connections that might matter for interweaving plots, and a few suggestions for new writers. i like to plot with chem and what makes sense for our muses - any connections made for jiyu will be based on throughout plotting.

this need not be said: jiyu is loyal to his family. jian and him have never been particularly close, but they’re trying to bridge this gap. jiyu is very close to keran and dotes on her.

about to be his youngest sister’s husband (see above).
lord hwang haneul.
ex-boyfriend. haneul and jiyu dated for 20 months between years 58 and 59 (when jiyu was 23/24 years old). this relationship was public. haneul and jiyu are still good friends.
and a few wanted plots and ideas to start off with!
a first relationship, when jiyu was in his teens. jiyu is gay - this would need to be a man around jiyu's age (no more than a year difference) who is confident enough to mesh well with jiyu. i'm not looking for them to romantically reconnect. one-sided pining is fine; jiyu himself has moved on.
someone who joined the navy at a similar time, and whom jiyu would've served with without outranking them. specifically i'd like someone jiyu could've been a little rebellious with, sneaking out of base together and the like.
relationships that skew a little negative. maybe because of a past disagreement, some resentment held for no real reason, or a clash of personalities.
past flings (again, gay) & (unrequited) crushes; jiyu sleeps around.
someone whom his parents would've liked him to marry. please note: i'm not looking to set jiyu up for a past engagements. another muse and jiyu were aware growing up that their parents would like them to be close, but they never clicked on that level and might've been a bit awkward about it. cannot be a yi, a hwang, an ito or the head of a great house, and should be around jiyu's age (2 year age difference is fine).
people he shares hobbies with, and whom he primarily engages with through these hobbies. could be pai sho or other strategy games, watching performances like theatre or dance, and most team sports. if your muse is into something niche, ask about it! jiyu might find himself a new interest.
friends that call him out on his bullshit and don't enable him. must be close for jiyu to listen instead of getting pissed off. also: people who like to gossip. jiyu likes trash talking.
