Deci, săptămâna asta, am găsit pe internet o scrisoare de la moldoveni către Stalin. E o scrisoare din anii 40 scrisă în ce era numită în acea vreme „limba moldovenească”.
După revoluția din octombrie, au făcut și moldovenii, care se aflaseră sub imperiul rus, colectivizarea sa. Dintre schimbările culturale era votul universal, exproprierea marilor proprietăți de pământ, dar și moldovenismul. Moldovenismul era crearea unei culturi moldovenești noi, deosebită de România fascistă din al II-lea război mondial.

So, this week I found online a letter from the Moldovan people to Stalin. It's a letter from the 40's written in what they used to call "the Moldovan language."
After the October revolution, the Moldovan people, who were under the Russian empire, also had their collectivization. Among the cultural changes there was the universal vote, the expropriation of large land possessions, but also the "moldovenism." "Moldovenism" was the creation of a new Moldovan culture, different from the fascist Romania from the 2nd World War.
Chiar dacă moldovenii acceptau scriitori precum Eminescu și Creangă, propuneau că ei nu scriseră pe românește, ci pe moldovenește. Conducătorii revoluției au ales niște cărturari ca să promoveze așa-zisă limba moldovenească, scrisă cu alfabetul chirilic și după graiul moldovenilor.

Even though the Moldovan people accepted writers like Eminescu and Creangă, the claimed they hadn't written in Romanian, but in Moldovan. The revolution authorities chose some lettered people to promote the so-called Moldovan language, written in the cyrillic alphabet and according to the Moldovans' speech.

Nu este atât de prezent în textul ăsta, dar deseori ortografia moldovenească din vremea RASSM arăta cum pronunțau moldovenii „i” în loc de „e” atunci când nu era silaba tonică cuvântului: зылили pentru zilele, фетили pentru fetele, мари pentru mare.
Cuvintele „zi” și „și” devin „zî” și „șî”. Înainte de „i”, „f” devine „ș” și „v” devine „j”. Astfel, „vie” devine „jie” și „fierbinte” devine „șerbinte”. Nu se află în acest text, dar ceva semănător se întâmplă cu „b” și „p”, care devin „gh” și „ch” respectiv: astfel „bine” devine „ghini”, și „copil” devine „copchil”.
De multe ori, ortografia moldovenească din acea vreme arăta cum „c” înainte de „i” și „e” se pronunța ca „ș”, și la fel „g” se pronunța ca „j”: колхозниший (kolhoznișii) și мержем (merjem) în loc de колхозничий (kolhoznicii) și мерӂем (mergem), cum a ajuns ortografia moldovenească ani mai târziu.
Ca în alte graiuri limbii române, articolul hotărât „ul” devine „u'” la limbaj de zi cu zi.
Poate din influență rusească, „h” a devenit „g” în cuvântul „gârtie”.
It's not heavily present in this text, but often the Moldovan orthography from the RASSM showed that the Moldovan people pronounced "i" instead of "e" when it wasn't the stressed syllable in a word: зылили for "zilele" (days), фетили for "fetele" (girls), мари for "mare" (large, ocean).
The words "zi" and "și" become "zî" and "șî." Before an "i," "f" becomes "ș" and "v" becomes "j." Thus "vie" (vineyard) becomes "jie" and "fierbinte" (hot, burning) becomes "șerbinte." It's not a part of this text, but something similar happens with "b" and "p," which become "gh" and "ch" respectively: thus "bine" (well) becomes "ghini," and "copil" (kid) becomes "copchil."
Often, the Moldovan orthography from that time showed that "c" before "i" and "e" was pronounced like "ș," and the same happened to "g" being pronounced like "j": колхозниший (kolhoznișii) and мержем (merjem) instead of колхозничий (kolhoznicii) and мерӂем (mergem), as the Moldovan orthography became later on.
As in other Romanian varieties, the definite article "ul" becomes "u'" in casual speech.
Maybe from Russian influence, the "h" became "g" in "gârtie" (paper).
