Rage Against Conformity
Music is a strong weapon for furthering political expression. Conceived in the 1990s, the brash, rather outspoken antics of the revolutionary band, “Rage Against Machine (RTAM)”, brought notice to misleading U.S. foreign and domestic policies. “The band sees its music as music as a vehicle for social activism”. Lead vocalist Zach de la Rocha, guitarist Tom Morello, drummer Brad Wilk, and bassist/backup singer Tim Commerford, each bring their own individual viewpoints as it pertains to politics. The band is quite frequently scrutinized for their in your face, “Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me” attitude.
Rage Against the Machine, with their band of arrogant and brazen followers, pushed their agenda for political revolution throughout the height of their popularity. Their mannerisms ultimately sparked riots through burning the American flag, chanting, and even speaking out against the president of the United States himself. The group was able to portray their message through their rioting, while also encouraging togetherness and a unity of the people. For instance, their music video performance of “Sleep Now in the Fire” shows how society is controlled ultimately by greed and money. The video even shows live footage of how RATM forced the stock exchange to close its doors 1/28/2000 at 2:52 pm in the middle of a trading day this is often a portrayal of how they felt and a slight form of media misinformation. During the shoot for this video, the band finished a set and moved to shoot inside the stock market. This was met with resistance from security, and after, a scuffle between vocalist Zack de la Rocha and the security ensued, leading to police intervention.
In an alternate incident, front man Tom Morello was arrested in 1997 and charged with civil disobedience as a response to his protest of the use of sweatshop workers by the apparel store “Guess”. This prompted the bands slogan “Rage Against Sweatshops” which was displayed throughout Los Angeles and New York. The vulgar band was known for pushing their viewpoints for social change, both through their controversial lyrics, and during their live performances almost equally.
Rage used their lyrics to promote their opinions, sparking criticism and controversy. The song “Ashes in the Fall” off of their 1999 “The Battle of Los Angeles” album shows the band’s willingness to push societal boundaries. De la Rocha screams, “Listen to the fascists sing/Like the priest that fucked you As he whispered holy things”, bringing to attention issues of molestation and racism all within one extremely brilliant song. They literally expressed a no fear sort of mentality when it came to their political beliefs. RATM would hold a free live performance in 2000, protesting the Democratic Convention, across the street from where the convention was actually taking place. A riot escalated, resulting in the arrest of many die-hard fans who were furthering the protest. They could only show themselves up by being more in your face and more scandalous, painting PMCR, the initials for Parents Music Resource Center, on their torsos and standing naked on stage to protest censorship. They have certainly built up a devout following to be admired, which would allude to definite success within their campaign.

At the very core of the universe is ṛta - the regulating force of the cosmos. Ṛta represents order, not only in the rhythm of the planets, the cycle of the seasons, and the world of nature, but in all aspects of the life of the universe, including the social and moral life of humankind. It is the right path for things, the cosmic norm or pulse which regulates existence.

Pfft
You know you love me <3
Random Things About Me: Day 3
i have such a thing for shoulders and elbows when the arm is stretched out. the indent that makes in the skin is so great. like. idk. so attractive.
Random Things About Me: Day 2
People have asked me before what kind of girl I picture myself with. (For some reason no one asks what kind of guy I would picture myself with?) But I can never seem to give them an answer. I don't really know "my type". I like different types of girls for different reasons. Shy, cute, adorable girls. Also punky, edgy, "sexy" girls. I like girls who wear all different kinds of clothing and look all different ways. I like short girls and tall girls, loud girls and quiet girls. I can't limit myself to one type because I find so many girls just incredibly beautiful.
But that's not even the main reason. The main reason is because I am not looking at girls, or even guys, and basing my attraction on their outward appearance. Yes, being attracted to someone matters. But through emotional attraction comes physical attraction. To me that's what matters. I don't like a person for how they look, it's who they are.
Beautiful people are nice to look at of course, and there is no doubt about that. I reblog pictures of beautiful girls and guys all the time.
But that's not what I'm looking for in someone. Someone's physical appearance is something that can attract me to someone initially but that is not always the case. I have liked people who I have never even seen before and have liked people who others wouldn't consider all that attractive. But to me, it doesn't matter. I am attracted to them for who they are, not what they look like. And through loving their personality and soul, I love the way they look.
Random Things About Me: Day 1
i just wish i could somehow let go but in some ways i'm so uptight and scared. and then in other ways i don't care enough. my feelings about things change so often and i push people away when i need them most. i long for a connection but i'm scared to let someone in. i say what i feel but when the time comes i can't act on what i say. i want so badly to just be happy with someone. but i guess i'm not ready yet. one day i will be able to be happy and feel safe.
