Do you have any stray thoughts or ideas from TRoS that just didn’t fit into the main plot? I really like the pacing of the work and was wondering if you start with more scenes and whittle them down or vice versa.

So I'm very methodical when planning my multi-chapter works, I pretty much had the whole fic (or at least where I wanted to put the big plot points) planned out chapter by chapter once I'd written the prologue and decided I wanted to put the original idea into words! Although a lot of the detailed specifics came later (for example the USA chapter I'm now writing was a very loose concept for a while until I finally pinned down what I wanted to cover in it outside of the race results).
One thing that definitely changed from my original outline was the Monaco chapter however. Originally it was going to be set at the track, as all the other race chapters have been, but when I started it I just wasn't feeling it because of how similar it was going to feel to a big chunk of the Singapore chapter (ie tough race and difficult atmosphere within the team) and I was worried about the two feeling very repetitive.
So I tried thinking about how I could convey the same feeling in a different way, and I had the idea literally hit me to set the Monaco chapter after the race to show how Seb, Lewis and the whole team pick themselves up after a race and I just found that way more interesting so I ran with it and I'm really happy with how it turned out. The 'Marko saying shitty stuff about Seb in the press' was the only thing that got carried over from my original outline I think.
I do also have a separate notes doc for me to write down any scenes or pieces of dialogue for future chapters so that if I come up with them ages before I'm going to write a chapter in full that I have it there for when I need it. The bulk of them have been copied and pasted into their relevant chapters with some small edits.
Since the fic isn't finished yet I might end up updating this if there's anything that changes from the USA chapter to the epilogue!
