got any tips on telling my family i'm aromantic greysexual? there's a good chance they'll be pretty alright with it, but how do i bring up that i don't really wanna be with anyone romantically or sexuality?
I thought we'd actually answered this but it turns out we talked about it and never did, sorry!!!
As someone who is also considering coming out let me be the first to say hey! Congrats! I'm proud of you for feeling comfortable to talk to your family about this! It can be difficult getting to this point and just even being here shows how awesome you are.
About tips for talking to them - make sure the moment feels right for you. Don't do it if you're feeling pressured. If there's someone in your family that you're closer to, start with them! Sit them down and try to explain what you're feeling. They might not understand at first, but hopefully they'll support you regardless. Maybe try to find a PFLAG or similar type organization in your area that could help. In terms of trying to help them understand you don't really wanna be with anyone, maybe try to find sources to help educate them. Google is always your friend in that situation. But I also want to remind you that it is not your responsibility to make other people understand, it is theirs. And if they care about you they will try their very hardest to understand no matter what.
Finally, on the off chance that they aren't alright with it, know that you can come hang out on our blog and in our Skype chats where we 10000% support and love you no matter your romantic and sexual identities!
p.s If you want more advice re: nonromance/nonsexuality might I direct you to our skype chat set up by the wonderful Allen? It's designed for anyone who identifies as such to hang out, get advice, and shoot the breeze :)
