Feel Good Movies To Watch Before Christmas:
Moonstruck (1987)
“I love you. Not like they told you love is, and I didn't know this either, but love don't make things nice - it ruins everything. It breaks your heart. It makes things a mess.
We aren't here to make things perfect. The snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. Not us! We are here to ruin ourselves and to break our hearts and love the wrong people and die. The storybooks are bullshit”.
What are a couple of your favorite works of art? Also, who are five of your favorite artists? Thanks :)
Favourite artists at the moment (because it changes a lot, except for Waterhouse):
- John William Waterhouse
- Florence Harrison
- Antoon van Welie
- Alphonse Mucha
- let’s go with Edward Burne-Jones this time
Favourite works of art… oh man this is tough. I love a lot of works by Waterhouse a lot, especially Circe offering the cup to Ulysses…
… which is a lot more purple in real life. I love a lot of Pre-Raphaelite works. I also love a lot of sculptures. I love medieval manuscripts. Some furniture makes me jump up and down with enthusiasm (ed. not on the furniture itself). It’s a combination of my mood and the thing itself that makes me fall in love with an artwork.
What’s the most disturbing movie you’ve ever watched? An actor/actress you’ve seen in more than 8 movies? Name the movies. A film you could watch on repeat for the rest of your life? What’s the very first film you remember watching?
Thanks for the ask, rtr47! :o)
Let’s see, the most disturbing movie I’ve ever watched would have to be ‘Gallipoli’. I literally cried off and on for weeks after seeing that movie.
An actor or actress that I’ve seen in more than 8 movies? Uh…that’s kind of difficult but I guess I’d say John Wayne. Those movies are ‘The Quiet Man’, ‘The Angel and the Bad Man’, ‘McLintock’, ‘North to Alaska’, ‘The Searchers’, ‘Stagecoach’, ‘The Cowboys’, ‘Rooster Cogburn’ and ‘Big Jake’ plus many more.
A film I would watch on repeat for the rest of my life, well, either ‘The Quiet Man’ or ‘Pride and Prejudice’.
The first film I remember watching…ugh…’The Wizard of Oz’? I watched so many older films when I was little that its hard to say. Even when I was really little I used to watch all the old musicals and such but I guess W of O stands out the most vividly.
I was tagged by empress-of-awesomeness Thank you, dear empress! I didn’t expect this to be such a struggle but here’s what I finally came up with:
One Song: This
Two Movies: ‘The Quiet Man’ and ‘Lars and the Real Girl’
Three Shows: First 48, Outlander (though I don’t subscribe to STARZ so only get to see bits and pieces of it) and Pioneer Woman.
Four People: My Grandma, my old teacher Mrs. Seifert, our service men and women and above all, Jesus.
Five Foods: Cinnamon rolls, hamburgers, homemade bread, raw carrots and bananas.
Six People to tag: obstakel, reluctantpaladin, rtr47, meninroad, wandering-gnomad and the-boulders-feelings
Things I’m currently into....
I was tagged by williamfbuckleyjr. Thank you! :o)
Songs: I’ve not listened to much music lately but I AM enjoying The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack at the moment.
Films: Meh, nothing in theaters at the moment appeals to me but I can watch period films over and over. Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, Master and Commander, The Count of Monte Cristo.
Shows: Outlander, First 48, Antiques Roadshow
People: I’m just not a ‘fan’ type person but I do like Sam Heughan and Catriona Balfe. They seem so lovely together on screen and off.
Food:
Always and forever hamburgers. Cinnamon rolls. No food fads for me. I like what I like. :o)
Books: I’m a romance reader and I love books by J.M. Madden. She’s got a good series about battle modified veterans that run a private investigation/personal security business. A very welcome alternative to the kinky gazillionaires that seem to be flooding the market lately. *prays for the future of the genre*
I tag: avalonsbeauty, yellow-yondaime, timewarpvintagefedoraman and rtr47 if you feel like it....
Music Meme
I was tagged by wednesdayschildis. Thank you, Rhona, I hope I don’t disappoint you.
Rule: Put your music on shuffle, write the first 10 songs that come on and your favorite lyrics from them. Don’t forget to tag 10 people however many you want at the end! This was more of a challenge than you know as the majority of my music is soundtracks from period films and Christmas music. I had to re-shuffle so many times to avoid those and I still came up with a narrow selection of songs! I clearly need to broaden my music collection. LOL
1. ‘Penelope’s Song’ by Loreena McKennitt
Long as the day in the summer time Deep as the wine dark sea I'll keep your heart with mine. Till you come to me.

One last time I could see you smile I, I hold, hold on to you You bring me hope I'll see you soon
6. ‘Underdog’ by Imagine Dragons
Early evening settle down Father, father, father Who am I to blame? Early evening hush me over Father, father, father Are we just the same?
7. ‘Its Time’ by Imagine Dragons
It's time to begin, isn't it? I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit I'm just the same as I was
