Artist: Josh Chalom “In conjunction with his Cube Works Studios.” Title : The Marilyn Monroe Measurements : “40x40” Priced at : $5,500 ONE OF A KIND! Cubism... with a twist: Artist recreates iconic Marilyn Monroe image using thousands of RUBIK'S CUBES! But the colourful portraits are more than just a mirror image, because they appear to jump off the wall thanks to clever subtleties in shading and depth. They are the brainchild of artist Josh Chalom who pixilates each image by hand, along with a team of more than 30 people painstakingly piece and twist the creations together. He said: 'I simply love the art form - I'm fascinated by old Atari 8-bit video games so this is the perfect medium for it. 'I've been doing this for years now and have no intentions of slowing down either. It's not so much a hobby but a passion in my life. Each one is hand twisted so depending on the size it takes anywhere from two or three days to a week or two to finish, but it all depends on complexity and planning for it. The biggest piece so far is the Hand of God - it's 29ft by 14.5ft and we used 12,090 cubes for that. It should be a Guinness record Mr.Chalom said: “We specialise in things that people will come and say "wow" at - the more over-the-top the better in our eyes.” #RubikCubism #JoshChalom #MarilynMonroe #Art #Artist #ArtOfTheDay #Designer #FineArt #InteriorDesignIdeas #ArtCollector #Creative #OneOfAKind #Original #ArtWork #ReadyForSale #Selling #RubiksCubes #WallDecor #ArtForHome #ArtForSale #Vibrant #Eccentric #Modern #Portrait #Pixelation #Complex #SellingArt #BuyArt #Investment #ArtistOfIG 🎨 https://www.instagram.com/p/CVn8gsVvqmg/?utm_medium=tumblr

Rubikcubism: Early 21st century movement in fine art which use Rubik's cubes to create pieces of art. This movement is belived to be originated by a French artist known as Invader
MAKE Sales Manager Brigitte Kunde shared this amazing build with us, spotted online by a friend of hers. Pete Fecteau used over 4,000 Rubik’s Cubes to create this 18′ 6″ x 9′ 8″ mosaic of Dr. Martin Luther King. Apparently Rubik’s-based artwork is a “thing.” There’s Rubik’s Einstein, Lincoln, Sitting Bull, Kathy Lee and Hoda. There’s even a name for the genre: Rubikcubism.
