ok but if ruby had lived and had a redemption arc parallel to cas in s5 that actually would have been such a good catalyst for a continuation of the it doesn’t matter what you are it only matters what you do themes bc then you have not only the angel being capable of love and disillusioned with heaven but also the demon capable of love and disillusioned with hell and reclaiming humanity at the expense of the divine plan. and they also would have had to follow through on sam accepting his powers as an inherent part of himself bc he didn’t need the feather to fly instead of the bizarre conclusion that they were just evil all along. ruby should have lived she would have forced supernatural to say something actually coherent for once.

i DO like the idea that after being killed by lucifer in swan song ruby is resurrected in the same way as cas and implied to have been saved by god. having chosen free will and love over her god she is brought back and given that same second chance

god though ruby redemption would have forced them to allow sam to work through his own negative perception of his demonic nature because there she is being a demon and grappling with humanity and trying to be good. so in parallel to her sam would have been able to choose goodness not only in spite of his demon blood but because of it as well
