That's why Ruby prevented Blake from killing Adam. After graduating from Beacon, Adam's branch of the White Fang crumbled, and he went on a quest to find himself. Along the way, he found Ruby. He wanted to apologize, but knew that Blake would never hear him out, so instead, Ruby decided to hear his side of the story. Granted, he was still in the wrong for everything he did, but he's trying to atone for his actions. And Ruby appreciated that. They started spending more time together, Adam trailing behind them whenever they went, always close by. At first, Ruby disappearing at night to see him didn't seem like a big deal, but her team started growing concerned when she was visibly losing sleep, especially since they never knew where she went. It was taking a toll on her, and even Adam insisted she should stay with the rest of the team for a few nights. But she'd say she needed to keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't try to pull anything. That wasn't the real reason, but Ruby couldn't afford to say it. Until the day they found out. Blake trailed her because her semblance would make it easier for her to hide. Ruby was followed just a block down the road from there Team RWBY was sleeping to a small motel. After sneaking in behind Ruby, Blake thought she saw a struggle, and once she saw those horns, she had to out a stop to this. She ran in and pulled Ruby away, pointing her gun at Adam immediately. She yelled for Ruby to get help, but Ruby didn't move. She told her again to get away and threatened Adam's life when he tried to explain what was going on.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you right here!"
Ruby runs to his defense, standing in front of Blake's weapon, holding her arms out, announcing why she can't kill him.
"Because I love him!'
