Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, rivers, and intermittent freshwater marshes. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Commonly known as Ruby-eyed tree frog for obvious reasons, Leptopelis uluguruensis (Hyperoliidae) is a species of frog endemic to Tanzania.
This small frog (28 mm - 48 mm) with big eyes has a variable coloration; they can be dense green to blue-green with or without whitish spots or rings, or brown with a darker pattern. Throat in males is blue.
