Summers Home | Porky & Vani
starter for @rubyeyedpassion !
Pokey fidgeted on his bed impatiently. He was supposed to be waiting for some kind of message from Giygas, but whatever it was, he wasn’t getting it. They were running out of time and that was starting to get under his skin just a tad. He couldn’t just wait here forever for something to happen. He was used to moving around, and staying in Summers was cool and all, but... he was getting restless.
It wouldn’t hurt for him to get out and look around, right? He couldn’t hang out in his hotel room all day in anticipation of Giygas’ next dream message. That’s it. He was goin’ out on the town. Pokey pulled himself off the bed and smoothed out the wrinkles in his pinstripe suit. Nothing was stopping Pokey Minch on this fine evening, nothing!
The bellhop tried to jump to say something to Pokey, but he ignored it. He wandered out from the Summers Hotel, taking a moment to take in the the evening sights of the beach town. It was certainly a far cry from Onett, or even the more northern Winters of the same country. Who would have thought that Pokey Minch, of all people, would find his way to a town of such glamour.
The thought of his success brought a smile to Pokey’s face as he began to stroll down the sidewalk through town. The only question was what to do, what to do... He was feeling kind of hungry. There was always that expensive restaurant, but their food was gross. Maybe his tastes were too refined even for them. But he remembered, then, that little stand along the beach that sold “magic” cakes, or something. Yeah, that sounded just right.
Pokey stopped over at the cart as someone wandered off with their prize. The woman at the stand noticed him and looked apologetic. “Sorry, we’re all out for tonight,” she said.
“What? You gotta be kidding me! How can you run out?”
“These things are popular! And I just sold my last one.”
Right, that person who had just left as Pokey came up to the stand! It was they who had taken away his snack! He was going to give them a piece of his mind. He was rich now, after all. He didn’t have to take this from anyone. Pokey shook his head as he turned to survey the landscape in search of that person. Just in the distance, he spotted them with something that looked suspiciously like a Magic Cake in their hand.
Pokey was on the move. He came up to this person-- this girl’s-- spot on the beach. He stood over her, feeling powerful as he managed to tower over someone. “Excuse me,” he said snidely and sharply, drawing attention to his presence. “That’s a Magic Cake, isn’t it? And that’s the last one she’s selling for the night. Don’t you think it’s a little rude to take the last of something like that?”
