Do you have any advice for making comics or a sequence of drawings? Im planning on making a few, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Also, I love your art
Oh boy, I'm no expert as I rarely do full comic stuff, but I can offer what bits of advice I can, I guess.
It very much depends on your own style and chosen media really, there's no one specific way that fits all.
Making comics I like to do a rough mini draft, just to get an idea of amount of panels and how to set them up. It helps figuring out proportions and sizing too. Nothing fancy, just rough sketchy outline with no text.
An old example for a comic page I never got around to complete.
Another useful tool is to write down a script for dialogue and text. I prefer to do the art itself first and then add the speech bubbles as needed, but that does depend on the media itself. Digital work allows more experimentation and adjusting as you work. Layers are your friends~
For the other type of comic, the sequence of images that is quite typical here on tumblr, you are much more free with the space for art itself. Each frame its own full image, rather than figuring out how to set up a specifically sized page with several frames.
It all depends on how you are telling your story and even what kind of story you are planning to tell.
Image sequences I feel is practical to pick a size for the image and work from there for each one. And you can still do rough sketchy setups and written scripts in preparation, to get a good idea of flow and whatnot.
I hope this senseless rambling was any help to you. I'm always unsure how to be explain and describe things.
Just know nothing needs to be perfect in first try. You just do how you feel best, and work from there. If in doubt, I always love looking at other peoples' work as examples for ideas on how they do things.
Good luck!
I went through and liked a bunch of your posts! You are soooooo lucky to be able to draw the thumbnails for tsams and you've drawn some of my favorites! I love your art style!
Thank you!! 😊 ❤️
