Peter Frank Santovito - EMPTY MAN
RUDY PEREZ - Musician, Songwriter, Producer, Composer & Philanthropist
Mr. Perez’s solo “Coverage” (1970), about that complex being — a regular person — is part of the Stephen Petronio Company’s “Bloodlines” series.
Prior to the Company premiere of Rudy Perez’s Coverage during SPC’s 2019 Season at NYU Skirball, NYTimes reporter Siobhan Burke sat down with Stephen Petronio and Ernesto Breton in the studio to talk about the Bloodlines addition. They called Rudy Perez, who resides in California, to join the conversation. Read the interview above.

“Rudy is 89 and he is amazing and spectacularly passionate. What an honor!”
SPC dancer Ernesto Breton worked with choreographer Rudy Perez in Los Angeles on Perez’s solo titled Coverage (1970), a piece not performed since 1989. His experimentations in this piece explore minimalism and theatricality, essentialism and drama.

FIRST REHEARSALS: Coverage
Though Coverage (1970) is a solo piece, Ernesto Breton and Elijah Laurant begin their first rehearsals moving together as they decipher the choreography of Rudy Perez. The piece consists of many pedestrian movements - jogging, walking, marching and jumping - as seen in the video above.
