How to pick a good ruffle sweater? think about: 1) the color and your skin tone. 2) the location of ruffles and how it affects your body shape. 3) interesting accessories for a consistent, elegant look.
In this look, the ruffles are on the shoulder. This location of ruffles makes my shoulder looks wider and attracts attention to neck and collar bone -- exactly where I added a pretty florals scarf. A black pleated skirt goes well with the curvey and folded shape of ruffles. Because there are already too many shapes, textures and details (’ruffles’ on shoulder, wraists, knees), I keep the color simple -- black.

How to pick a good ruffle sweater?
First, pick a good color. No matter how pretty the sweater’s details, a color that doesn’t match your skin tone will NOT look good.
Second, be mindful of the ruffles’ positions. Ruffles will add volumn to body part. So, if you are someone with very large chest, you wouldn’t want ruffles at the chest location. If you are someone with wide shoulder, you wouldn’t want the sweater i’m wearing. For the same reason, I would avoid those sweaters with ruffles everywhere, or add wait location -- you’ll lose all your body curves!
Lastly, many elegant sweaters are plain and simple. Add accessories to make you stand out! A floral mini-scarf goes well with the romantic chic ruffle style. Other accessories I would match a ruffle sweater including pearls and faux fur scarves. I would avoid accessories such as metallic accessories and pointy jewelries. These may be too ‘hard’, and may distract from the ‘softness’ of ruffle sweater style.
