Odd One Out | Chapter 2 [Hise & Rui A]
Chilly, cool, cold. The break room’s temperature was noticeably colder than the other rooms in the facility. Shinpei pulled at his scarf-- at least he had a scarf to help keep him warm, which is more than what some of the other participants had.
Shinpei approached the pool table with caution. He ran his fingers along the green felt. It was softer than he had expected. He’s never played pool, he’d probably be awful at it.
The boy walked over to the other side of the table where the balls were held together inside a triangle. He picked one out and rolled it across the table. Although he was aiming for the corner to sink it into the hole, the ball hit the center at the other end of the table.
While the ball rolled back, Shinpei only now noticed that someone had entered the break room as well.
“I am sorry,” Shinpei bowed apologetically, “My ears failed to detect your presence. Is there anything I can do for you?”
